Sean Lowrie was Independent School League player of the year... in 2015. Took a redshirt year due to injury in 2016 and was already in a Duke grad program in 2020 (so why not keep playing if enrolled and still have eligibility), but he'll turn 25 this summer. That's a lifetime older than a 18-19 college frosh.
definitely why not when you have 15 teammates in your classes and in the grad apts.

can they backfill with a new group next year?

As bad as 6/25 is, it was something like 14/15 at one point. Ginder just holding his own in the second half did play a role in comeback. Not many Duke fans on here but if their are any what are you thoughts on goalie? Adler transferred in with lots of hype from a bad program were he never played in any high pressure/high stakes games (of course every game you play in you put pressure on yourself to play well for your teammates). Uppgren has not always been consistent but has been started for about 2.5yrs at Duke, played in many big time games facing best shooters in the nation. I think it is a tough sell in the locker room not to start him next game and make it his spot to lose. Not totally fair to Adler to lose job over 1/2 of a game but he had poached it by transferring in in the first place. Will be interesting to see if that becomes a distraction.

Nope, Denver had 14 more GBs than Duke too.
GK play is huge in this one, Duke had 7 more saves than Denver.

gb's are included in fo stats. so that's why they had more.
duke had more saves because denver had 19 more possessions from faceoffs.

duke's tough in so many phases of the game! go 'cuse! when do they open up? they only strapped it on this week?

My guess is the goalie will be given a little more rope. First game. Practice counts. Lets see how he does next time out.

You’re being awfully hard on the Hawks.
With Adler in goal, the Hawks could afford to concentrate
on defense, and not worry nearly as much on offense.

Adler looked star struck, lacking in confidence, too nervous, not aggressive at all which is his game,
they’ll need him in conference play, so hopefully he
gets his confidence back.

How many shots did they put on cage from the possessions of those 19 more face off wins?

Cuse opens up v Army on the 21st.

He just needs to make a couple of saves and then relax. Its like a shooter that just needs to see the ball go in a few times in order to settle down.

not enough!!! 7 it looks like?
my point and always has been.... if you lose faceoffs (big), you have to be that much better than your opponent net net in all other phases combined. that is an absolute fact and indisputable. you cannot play equal in those phases, or you will lose. another fact.

if you win faceoffs, you have a buffer. don't lose the buffer by being outplayed too badly.

Uh oh, I think we might be in agreement here. I've always said that complete teams win games not just FOGOs. What you do with that possession is what matters. Did you score on the possession that FOGO got you? If not, that face off win doesn't really mean a whole lot beyond the stat sheet. Lots of evidence of that early on in this season. The most important stat is goals....how efficient are you at putting the ball in the cage when you have possession. 1-7 on EMO...I'd worry about that more than face offs.

That’s kind of my point but you are right, bad is harsh, let’s say low profile. He was star struck and nervous because of how much of a bigger stage this was, I doubt he would have looked like that in his first game is he had transferred to Drexel. Of course he can bounce back but it’s an interesting dynamic now. Uppgren has been teammates with many of these guys 3 and 4 years and he pretty much saved the day today. Want to keep an eye on the locker room if Adler struggles next game as well.

What happened to Sillstrop. He started and was playing well. I noted that I didn’t realize that De ver stated two lefty attackmen and then he was gone.

Duke's D really took over in the second half. They just kept stopping DU when the Pios needed goals. JT knocked down a few passes that turned into critical stops. And DU's EMO was atrocious. Sounds like they've only scored two EMO goals this season. Duke's man down D was part of the story too.

I see Duke starting Uppgren on Sunday. Don't see how you can keep him on the bench after that performance. If the game against Robert Morris is under control after 3Q, I'd take TU out and let Adler play the 4th.

Sowers sent a strong message that if they let him play from X, plenty of guys are gonna get really good looks. He showed signs of Jordan Wolf running around with the ball in the last minute killing the clock just toying with the guys assigned to keep up with him. Might see that a lot this year.

Robertson wasn't dominant enough in recent years to displace Williams.
