Can Opener wrote: Sat Feb 29, 2020 12:37 am Don’t bother with MegaBucks or Vito’s sure thing. If you’re looking to bet the mortgage money on a can’t miss lock, here’s the inside line. Feel free to second guess, but Can Opener is almost never wrong on his Ivy picks. Bring seven separate brown envelopes to the diner in the morning and tell the missus to put her pretty dress on because you’re taking her out on the town to spend your winnings.

#1 Yale at “Receiving Votes” UMass — Elis empty the bench in a 17-8 victory
#8 Princeton hosts “Receiving Votes” (really?!?) Hop — Sowers notches 7 points en route to a 14-11 Tigers win. Mt. St. Mary’s game can’t come soon enough for the Bloomberg Boys
#9 Penn hosts #2 PSU - RPI improves but Quakers lose to Nits 11-9
#10 Cornell @ #18 TOSU - Ivy luck runs out in OT, 14-13
“Receiving Votes” (from Coach Byrne???) Harvard at Albany - Tehoka notches 6 points to lead the Danes to a 9-7 victory
PC at Brown - Bears don’t blow a late inning lead here and prevail 12-9
Dartmouth @ UMass Lowell — Undefeated Big Green gets first taste of defeat 14-8
Predicting specific scores. LOL!

Can Opener: Great to see you back in the game... Unfortunately, I've blown the family gambling budget for the month on bingo, keno and penny anti poker. While I can't say I'd welcome all of your predictions, I do think that, with the exception of the Yale game, the other Ivy match-ups are essentially toss ups for various reasons.

Agree, this will be a reality check, especially for the ranked Ivies. Yale is definitely good but can Princeton, Penn and Cornell live up to hype and expectations? We will find out soon enough...

No less absurd than providing a point spread and also providing an over/under for the game, which most sports books do. In fact, with minimal effort, you could take the point spread, the over/under, and arrive at a specific score prediction for every single game that a book provides action on.

I mean, yeah...kinda crazy. Not sure why you're LOL'ing CO here, though, when there's a whole industry devoted to this.

...and, what the heck, score predictions are kind of fun, entertaining. Lots of big games this weekend, but I think it will be especially interesting to see if Brown ends the day with a 3-1 or 2-2 record. Bruno has been an ILT regular for years now, but it seems tourney slots might be at a premium this year. GO IVIES!

Surprising start to the Yale/U Mass game. I wan't expecting 7-2 UMass midway through the 2nd.

Princeton looking good against Hopkins.

9-2 U Mass.

TD dominating the FO, as expected, but U Mass forcing turnover after turnover.

I know it's early, but U Mass is looking great. Definite upset alert...

Just my opinion. I had no idea "can Opener" is a professional bookie!

11-2. And U Mass gets the ball to start 2nd half on a man-up.

Their d is throttling Yale.

Ah...so your problem isn't the fact that CO is "predicting specific scores," like you said, but that he's offering predictions without being a professional bookie. Got it.

You should try to be more precise with your language. If you're not willing to put in the effort to say what you mean, you can't expect us to put the time in to figure out what the hell it is you're on about.

Well, today should quiet the chatter of a 4-bid Ivy League for a bit. Penn gave Penn State all they could handle, but tough losses by Penn, Yale (ouch) and Harvard.

ETA: Princeton looking solid, though.

Looks like Penn can keep their chins up, though.

Yale, ouch is right. Who saw that one coming?

Harvard had a shot at a comeback thanks to some miserable goaltending, but then they switched and that was just enough.

I was worried about my alma mater but they thoroughly dominated despite not having George Prince available. 3-0 GBG

Princeton domination over Hopkins team in disarray.

Fully agree. Nice job by Princeton and Dartmouth. Hoping for good results from Brown and Cornell.

Don't feel singled out, ICG, 1313 doesn't like predicting exact scores.
The game is all about stats, gotta have those stats, ya know.
Further, any time 1313 shows up this is the kind of friendly banter he brings with him.
Better off completely ignored.
