.....Solution is starting season two weeks later, universally. Better chance of avoiding freezing weather and games that no one wants to attend - fans or players. Make up for it by scheduling mid-week games. Every team plays a couple of Tuesday evening games throughout the season. Great for fans to attend or watch on TV.
^^^^^^^^This. Simple, clean and effective for sure and will help to get some TV ratings

No, it won't. ESPN gets higher ratings for baseball and softball and will drop lacrosse faster than a bad habit to put them on. Having the Final 4 on Memorial Day fits nicely into an empty time slot between the end of the baseball/softball conference tournaments and the NCAAs. Pushing the season back is a perfect excuse for ESPN to make the all rounds before the Final pay-per-view.

So WHAT. Do you know how EASY it would be do an equal, if not extremely better, production using simple devices ? But, most likely moot point. NCAA most likely requires, per contract, that espn HAS to give us lacrosse games and the three little weird muskannouncers, Q,A,C

Do you know that ESPN owns the rights to the MLax and other NCAA championships until the 2023-24 academic year, which they purchased from the NCAA for $500 million? That would render how simple it would be to use those devices totally moot unless they decide to use them.

you are inferring that ESPN owns the rights to NOT broadcast low rated lacrosse games, at all ? Wouldn't the n$aa set up a broadcast contract, with any entity, that if they are bundling sports , that they STAY bundled ?

ESPN is satisfied with the ratings they get with lacrosse right now. The Final 4 on Memorial Day fits in nicely between the end of the conference baseball and softball tournaments and the beginning of their NCAA tournaments. They get higher ratings for whichever round of the baseball and softball tournaments than they do for the Final 4 of lacrosse. If the start of the season was moved back as everyone is advocating, the semifinals would need to be one weekend and the final would be the next, as it was before 1986, because the Monday would no longer be a holiday. ESPN would put the final on the Mother Ship or ESPN2, but the first two rounds would have at most one game each day on ESPNU and the others on their streaming networks, with the semis probably (75% probable IMO) on ESPNU.

ESPN paid for the rights to all the non-rev sports championships. Which of their broadcast media they put the games on is strictly up to them to decide. A lot of the people who are advocating moving the start back come across as believing that ESPN will easily accept the change and the broadcasts of the games will go on just as before. No, it won't happen that way.

I’m in favor of a later start and finish date from a lax standpoint, but let’s not forget these players are students and virtually all will have jobs that are not lax related. All but seniors need summer internships secure those jobs and many lax players end up in financial services. Those summer internships lead to jobs after graduation. Those internships are 10 weeks long from late May to late July. Extending the season will impact theses internships and disqualify some players.
