Virginia 6A 2019
Dale Nalls leaving South County and Alex Gorman leaving Madison. Both good guys and strong coaches. Will miss them both. Aaron Solomon stepping in at Madison - it's about time he had his shot at HC. VEL starting soon so we'll have meaningless off-season activities to spur discussion.
Re: Virginia 6A 2019
Damnit, was beaten to the punch!
Should be wide open this year in 6A. Can't wait to see everyone in the fall starting next weekend!

I guess the Laxpower group hasn't found this page yet.
Anyone out there been to any VEL games? Wondering who is looking good, not that VEL is a very accurate predictor of spring success. I saw a little of Oakton's takedown of PVI, but that is meaningless as PVI was missing many of their studs.

Take VEL with a big grain of salt. PVI lost to Oakton, Briar Woods lost to PVI, and then Briar beat Oakton this past weekend.NOVALax2015 wrote:I guess the Laxpower group hasn't found this page yet.

I'm guessing when PVI lost to Oakton, they were missing some key guys. When Briar lost to PVI, they were missing several. For all I know, Oakton was missing some studs this past weekend as well.
Prediction is PVI - Briar Woods championship game this coming weekend. Depending on who shows up could go either way.

Exactly as I said - PVI was missing many of their studs. Oakton is a strong public program in NoVA, but would get smoked by PVI if both at full strength. Wouldn't be close.down_the_alley wrote:Take VEL with a big grain of salt. Stone Bridge HS is looking for a Varsity Assist Coach for the upcoming season. Stone Bridge Lax has gone 82-16 (0.837 Winning %) over the past five seasons! We are looking for a committed, energetic, and experienced coach that is looking to continue the tradition of excellence. Email [email protected] if interested.
Re: Virginia 6A 2019
PVI and South Lakes were in the VEL championship game - Black Division - w/ PVI winning 4-2. Both teams were missing a couple guys. South Lakes went through Briar Woods and Langley on their way to the final. PVI went through Freedom and O'Connell. Turkey Shootout in a couple weeks!
Re: Virginia 6A 2019
Good times today at The Turkey Shootout, held this year at South County HS (even though the SoCo team was not in attendance??). Impressive play displayed by the usual suspects - Riverside, Oakton, Robo - who appeared to have all the horses in attendance. Waiting to hear the ultimate winner..
Re: Virginia 6A 2019
Turkey Shoot Out was well attended. Shout out to South County for allowing Oakton and the other schools to use its facilities.
Riverside was the champ - wresting the title from Oakton (the 2017 champ). In the semis, Riverside beat Patriot and Oakton defeated Robinson. While not too cold, the conditions were less than ideal - esp when the sun went down and the fog rolled in. Have no idea how the players saw the ball at the end.

Re: Virginia 6A 2019
Thanks Jerseyman - do you have scores for each semi?
Re: Virginia 6A 2019
Final was not close. 7-1? Oakton was up 1-0, gave up a flurry of goals and then, at that point, the boys were too exhausted. Don’t know semi score for Riverside/Patriot, but the Oakton/Robo game was 6-2?
Not sure who played and who didn’t. I know Patriot’s Fogo was at the Face-0ff event out of town, and Oakton’s first string Fogo is not yet back from his injury from last season.

Re: Virginia 6A 2019
Final of the Riverside / Patriot semi was 9 7. Good game with Riverside jumping to an early lead, Patriot fought back to tie it at 6. Both teams were missing a starting attackman. Riverside FOGO got hurt at one point, hopefully nothing serious.

Fierce Nation HS Winter League heading to playoffs after next week. Oakton, Robo, and Champe all 5-1 to date, with South County at 4-2. Oakton lost to South County a few weeks back after beating Robo in OT. Champe lost to Robo. Oakton and Champe play Sat, Feb. 2 to sort out the playoff seedings.

Time to get the party started.

Nice to see Yorktown's own Mason Pollack still getting it done at Tufts!

Re: Virginia 6A 2019
Seems like a very reasonable preseason ranking. Will probably look like a hot mess in the next few days as we see what a new season brings to each team.VA6ALacrosse wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2019 12:04 pmPipecitybaby wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2019 5:24 pm Top 5 6A Ranking going into the season, thoughts......,
