Trump's use of an unsecured cell phone likely means that the Rooskies and Chinese (as well as many other bad actors and also allies) know more about his activities and conversations that investigators do.

The claim is he does this to keep his conversations and phone records out of the possession of his staff (all AMERICANS) out of fear the material might get leaked to the media....which he apparently thinks is more worrisome than the Russians/Chinese.

Even if using a secure cell up, unless both parties are on a secure line (or device), they are vulnerable.
Rule of thumb -- unless both parties are on a secure landline, don't say anything that will help the bad guys.
