Initiating Impeachment procedures for an offense that does not generate that level of support is an abuse of the process, whether in 1998 or 2019. That's what Turley's trying to tell you partisan zealots.

While that is what Turley is saying, he's got zero legal basis for that opinion. That is just his personal preference. Constitution is clear -- the House has the SOLE POWER to impeach. THAT is the law. And it is reasonable to go ahead and play the game to see how it turns out. It in no way is an abuse. Silly to say that you have to have to conviction locked down in order to start the process.

And all the Senators and House members will have to answer to the voters for what they do or don't do. They decide if there is/is not abuse. All nice and tidy and democratic.

Turley is one of the very very few who believe (i) Clinton's offenses were impeachable and (ii) Trump's offenses are not. Actually even Turley himself really doesn't believe (ii). He just doesn't think (ii) has yet been proved. That's a judgment of the facts, not the law.

Yes, it took 2 years after a break-in that no one realized involved Nixon at first...took quite awhile before it was realized to actually be about Nixon. Even then, it was the cover-up, not the original crime, that had him on the way to being impeached.

On the other hand, how long after the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal became known (analogous to WB complaint) was that impeachment? (Hint: faster than this one.)

But I agree, the Dems should slow down and just keep racking up the indictments and victories in court.
Bang the drum of obstruction over and over and over, force the documents out into the open, force these miserable blowhards to testify under oath.
If it takes time, it takes time. Grind it out.

Of course, you may just switch to criticizing the Dems for doing an impeachment during an election year (as if there's some sort of actual prohibition to enforcing the law in an election year), but that's fine, enforce the subpoenas.

Unfortunately, I think the Dems are going to follow the (poor IMO) advice that they need to get it over with fast and get onto the election. I think that actually does a disservice to the rule of law.

But maybe one of our legal eagles can suggest why I may be missing something.
Is it that the Dems will indeed grind out subpoenas even after the impeachment is out of the House?
If so, why are they waiting on subpoenaing Bolton, Mulvaney, Pompeo, etc?

The issue is: you and millions of Republican voters don't care that he did that. That's why this all looks like a circus to you. Indicting Lev and Giulani for election violations and whatnot won't change that.
