Re: Cornell 2020
VRR and VF, thanks for the comprehensive reports. Sounds like there is much to feel good about, including improved face offs and play at the defensive end. I wonder who the third starting D will be when Doria returns-- Karey or Adler? Also interesting to see Stramanak moving up the depth chart. He missed his senior HS year with a knee injury, but had been known as a big kid with good mobility. Also, the good play of Bartolotto and Batson at LSM gives us flexibility to move Salvatore to close, though I hope that will not be necessary given how disruptive he is in the middle of the field. Peterson was great, but our attack will be very dangerous with Long and Coyle playing with Teat and Piatelli. Piatelli seems to have diversified and stepped up his game every year. Two strong offensive midfields, with depth waiting in the wings. It's going to be hard to keep Blake off the field, and I particularly like him on offense. Hopefully, our ssdm hold up and depth does not become an issue there.

Alex Zepf highlights:

Very quick hands, and always nice to get a Chaminade recruit.
Freshman Gene Martin, 2020 recruit Walker Wallace, and 2021 Zepf are a very good young pipeline in goal-- while Bullen and Henderer have provided good current depth behind Ierlan.

Re: Cornell 2020
Had the thrill and pleasure of watching Mr. Schimoler play a few times and he was indeed a superb goalie, and by all accounts a gem of a human being too. Nothing but respect for the man from this poster.
You, on the other hand, Mr. DeStefano, not so much. No need to make up stories like this:

No need to make up stories like this that never happened, what the man actually did separates him from most others, no falsehoods are needed to puff his accomplishments as a player.“It was just amazing how he could make great players like Paul and Gary Gait look like they didn’t know how to shoot,” DeStefano said. He made them look like they didn’t know what they were doing.”
Re: Cornell 2020
Team Canada scores 6 goals vs Team USA yesterday...Teat had four assists, a couple of really pretty ones too, that kid just really throws some very sweet passes. Team Canada is up 6-5 with 41 seconds to go, when the clock hits zeros, it's 7-6 USA.....and some say we need to get rid of the face off in lacrosse. Yeah, right. Team Canada suffers back to back last second loses to the USA (last one being for the gold in the world games...a bit of clock controversy there too), OUCH!!!!

Re: Cornell 2020
Thanks, DMac! I saw highlights of two of his assists, but had not seen a box score. There were five Cornellians on the field, three for Team Canada and two for the USA.
While it's not field lacrosse, I would note that the Canadians might feel better with their victories over both the USA and Iroquois in Langley, BC during the World Indoor Championships last month.

Great Cornell turnout last evening for the induction of Paul Schimoler into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Next on the list, Bob Shaw & Craig Jaeger, two worthy candidates long overlooked.

Another excellent recruiting class arriving next year. Hugh Kelleher is a little under the radar, but is a great athlete:

Possibly old news at this point, but October 21st (10/21) was Cornell Lacrosse giving day. The team raised their annual donation objective in less than 24 hours from over 400 donors.

New 2021 recruit-- Chris Davis, M, from Vermont. Perhaps a non- hotbed sleeper:

Another recruit from the Canadian pipeline: Bowie Horsman, A/M Hill Academy. Graduates in 2021, but apparently not coming until 2022.

I know my Dad up in heaven is smiling after that Cornell football win. He had season tickets from the late 70's until his death in 2002. He loved the Big Red.

This is a good club, who may sometime soon be competitive with Hill Academy in terms of Canadian talent, Edge Lacrosse.

Re: Cornell 2020
Salisbury has an amazing program, and Cornell has recruited there before. Thanks for the heads up about Edge.
I'm a bit surprised that these two programs simplify things to say that the players are signing the NLI. My understanding is that the Ivies don't technically use the NLI. I'm not bringing this minor issue up to be a Smart Alec. I do wonder if my understanding is not correct.

Re: Cornell 2020
A Yale commit recently signed an NLI. There was some commentary (here on FanLax) to the effect that it was purely ceremonial. I don't have any inside knowledge, but I can understand a high school allowing its Ivy-bound athletes to participate in a signing day.
