Good point, NN. May need to create an alter ego called Saint Cleveland to defend Can Opener online.

In fact with all due respect, this discussion is silly. It's the kind of chatter that disgruntled dad's have when they think their kid was short changed in the recruiting process. The reality is top 20 D3 lacrosse is awesome and doesn’t need validation by any discussion of how they’d stack up against D1.

The problem is, for the vast majority of young players (and parents), it's D1 or bust. The travel programs feed this mania for the money! That mindset is so wrong on MANY levels. IMHO if your good enough to get a look from a top D1 program but aren't good enough to get the offer, you're infinitely better off going top D3 then settling for middling D1. You'll play, you'll get more money, play in more meaningful games and have a great college experience.... Lax as well as a semester abroad and have a social life to boot. Not to mention, when all is said and done you'll have, in all likelyhood a better degree that will allow you to accomplish even bigger goals after college!
Oh my, Nosey. Not sure why we need to take swipes at dads and club coaches to make a point on which I’m confident we all agree: DIII lacrosse is an excellent experience for thousands of athletes. Is there anyone out there who would prefer to have their son play for DI St. Bonaventure or Cleveland State over DIII Williams or Wesleyan? There are 73 DI men’s programs and 248 DIII men’s programs. I will bet you a cold beer that only a very small percentage of those athletes, their dads and their club coaches are disappointed with the DIII outcome. Besides, without disgruntled dads and pushy club coaches, would we even have a FanLax forum?!?!
Haha .... love the dads and club coaches! Was probably little too critical and may have over shadowed my point. Which is, I don’t think players (and coaches and dads guiding them) go in to the recruiting process with the excitement for top end D3 that they should. Players seem to come to it and “settle” for D3 at the back end of the process when the D1 dreams are fading. Top end D3 should be more of a goal at the beginning ... not a consolation prize.

Hell yes! Outside of 20-30 guys over a course of years, you aren’t making a living playing lax. That isn’t to say you can’t make it in the game! Coaching, equipment companies, etc. No need for D1 non-mega star cred there though. Top floor D3 should be a goal for a huge number of great HS players.

How do you feel about the new alignment, after a very quick glance( could be wrong) but it seems like the NESCAC could only have 1 team in tournament.

What did your recruiting look like? What options outside of the NESCAC did you consider?

So let me get this straight, CTLAX, you are not one to spread "any false rumors," but you want others to do so? You're a beaut….

Anything on Conn College? Should be interesting to see if they can bring in a decent coach on such short notice.

Probably an "unexpected" hire at first glance given the interim status of the position.

Is Dave Cornell done there totally? I know last year it was because of some family health issues. I think they will keep it the same as last year. Its not like they did any better or worse with Corcoran

I believe they were a top 5 NESCAC team in 2018. They won a singular NESCAC game last season. I would say that they did much worse without losing much talent

Word out of Amherst is that Coach Thompson is leaning towards instituting a "positionless" offense this year. While there is something to be said about the concept, and the success Maryland has had with it at the D1 level, I am hesitant about its effectiveness given their personnel. Do you really think its smart to take a player like Minicus out of his sweet spot at attack and rotate him to the top of the box? Interested to see how this plays out for them this upcoming season and whether the reap the benefits of this new school approach or fall victim to it.
