I understand why we had to change the name from Global Warming; it wasn't warm enough, I kept skiing every year, and the hurricanes weren't as plentiful as was promised.

So Madison Avenue came up with 'Climate Change'!!

When do we shift the goalposts to Global Cooling?

Anchorage has had only a half inch of snow this fall. Normally over 5 inches by now. Fairly rare snow free halloween: https://www.adn.com/alaska-news/weather ... anchorage/

Weather vs. climate can be just so confusing...

Latest Poll on American Attitudes toward Global Warming. It is no longer close as to what fraction of the population believes climate change is at least partially man made. 7 out of 10 Americans feel this way. 23% of Americans believe Global Warming is real but humans play no role. 9% of Americans believe Global Warming doesn't exist. Science is winning. This is still below other better educated countries.

I have come across an excellent talk on the physics of energy and climate change that explains the basic ideas is simple terms. The whole thing (one hour) is worth watching, but the discussion of climate starts at about the 15 min mark:

http://online.kitp.ucsb.edu/online/colloq/taylor2/

The speaker, a prof at MIT, is also the co-author of a recent textbook on the physics of energy, aimed at undergrads with a freshman-physics background:

7 customer reviews so far, all 5 star.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/weather/topst ... spartandhp I know all the talking points from the chicken little brigades about how not to confuse weather with climate. I still get a good chuckle about the reality of the deep freeze before the inevitable meltdown. The chit will hit the fan we can all rest assured. It may be 11 years or 25 years or 50 years or 100 years but dammit it will happen. We all UNDERSTAND THE SCIENCE. The problem is they do not understand the science well enough to tell us what exactly it is that we should be chitting our pants about. What is it that triple R says all the time... what is the climate changing to? :D

Cool article by a young junior in HS who has plans to be a meteorologist.

I remember all of my life before the fancy terminology came about these anomalies use to be called cold snaps. Dog gone if we did not have 2 or 3 of them every winter. The same can be true of the snow storms we are hit with. Several times a year we will get dumped on with a foot or more of snow. I feel sorry for this young man because clearly he is now in the line of sight of the chicken little brigade. Having the audacity to "debunk" what they believe will not end well for the lad. Using Roy Spencer as a reference in his article only makes matters worse. Here is a new phrase this lad should now become use to hearing on a daily basis... INCOMING!! :o

It's obviously his parents are behind the scenes pushing their political agenda. This kid is a hysterical teen, unstable, a millennial weirdo - someone with many mental disorders and needs a spanking.

Sounds like some facetiousness around the attitude many had about Greta. Except maybe todays teens enjoy the spanking part. :o

Or just laugh your arse at this pathetic little waif. She could have had a life... she coulda been a contender... IMO she should next sail to China and spread the message over there. Maybe a huge rally in Tiananmen square with 10s of thousands of rabid supporters. I bet the Chicoms even let her make a major speech in front of their government leaders. I am certain they would appreciate listening with open arms to this young woman's message.

One day without a drop of rain on an entire continent:

And, meanwhile, it's hot out there too. Marble Bar in the WA Pilbara was the hottest place at 44.4 degrees just before noon.

You mean 112 degrees Fahrenheit. Americans don't understand Celsius.
