You're joking, right?
On Laxpower, there was ONE poster (just one, not even one more) who claimed at the beginning it was a hoax, he spelled out why it was a hoax, and his gift for being a lonely voice was he got roasted for weeks on end by everyone; not one other poster backed his alternative view. I do not recall his name, but I read the forum. And yes, he was called a rape apologist. I have no doubt that many here would do the same if the next story came out. I did not go back and look at the Nicholas Sandman thread if there is one, but I'd be willing to bet many people here roasted that kid without knowing the backstory. Am I right?
And btw, I am not smart; I am cautious. I don't fall for too-perfect stories. Too many people need stories to be true, so they believe them without inspection, then defend them to death even when it's proved wrong (Kavanaugh's deal comes to mind). I'm first in line to concede errors in thinking and otherwise. Most people refuse to consider any alternative.
Your insistence on Katie Hill forgoing her spot in congress because of 'revenge porn' is one such example of being so committed to your story you can't begin to see an alternative view.

You do realize you are comparing her 'disdain' for 'civil liberties' with Trump's disdain for the Constitution, right?

Come on, PB, Trump doesn't remotely respect the rule of law much less the Constitution.
He's entirely transactional, saying whatever he thinks might win him support with the hard right.
Re: Sexual Assault ~ #MeToo ~ #TimesUp for Epstein's friends
Not buying the just lurking part or your recap of the Rolling Stone article reaction, PB. I do remember there being only one (likely you but I can't remember the guy's handle...awfully similar style to the way you've come on here again) initially advising to proceed with extreme caution with the whole deal, but it didn't take most too long to start questioning the validity of the story. Most of us gave the reporters credit for having checked this story out before printing it. Silly us, but lesson learned.
As for my not seeing the #MeToo part or the potential abuse in a relationship between a superior and subordinate concerning the KH situation, you're wrong. I fully understand that. Your argument as to why she bowed out is specious though. Of course you can make it sound as if she gave up her career and future as a promising politician because of an inappropriate relationship, but the real reason she bowed out is because of the revenge porn. You think she would have stepped up and said I've been having a roll in the hay with a subordinate so I have to step down had no pictures and a sleazeball ex husband entered the picture?
BTW, you never answered my question about what societal acceptable sexual behavior is. Didn't answer as to my being lib- conservative, lefty-righty either (maybe a little more help is I butter my bread lefty but eat righty, and I believe marijuana never should never have been illegal and that women should button their blouses as high as men do).

Re: Sexual Assault ~ #MeToo ~ #TimesUp for Epstein's friends
<many posts to reply to, so I'll condense here.
Dmac: last many years until this year actually, I used a an early model Gogo WiFi system in a company plane. The only websites we could access in the sky had to have very primitive interfaces. Laxpower was about the only website I could reliably access and so I lurked. I'm not that guy/girl, sorry to disappoint, but his words are my words. I am a passionate defender of the lonely voice and of civil liberties. This Board is like many Internet Boards: a herd mentality demanding submission (mostly by the Left). You will never find me in that group.
Dmac: D or R? probably neither. It sounds like you vote for the person not the Party. But I don't care what you are/if you are, which I think you missed. The topic was predicting responses on issues here based on what I perceived to the Party of the Poster.
MDLax thinks Trump is an emperor-in-waiting, yet I see the occasional good in him when for example he makes moves in the civil liberty lane; I am never of the 'this guy is 100% bad camp', sorry. Trump is the only POTUS I can recall who has actually done something meaningful regarding incarceration. The over-incarceration issue is a stain on America which in 100 years will be looked at similarly to slavery. Most here at FanLax never get exposed to that system, because the incarcerated are mostly young, poor African-Americans (which if I am betting, very few here do much interacting with). I made a decision to be a second-chance company, something very few companies are willing to do.
TLD and others in the Democrat lane often resort to personal attacks rather than the subject matter; that is a disturbing trend seen mostly by the Left, metasticizing in circumstances like Sarah Sanders being kicked out of a restaurant, a videographer getting beaten up in the Portland streets because he wasn't Left, and Mitch McConnell and his wife getting physically harassed at his home. It likewise shows up in an inability to be skeptical about stories (UVA, Duke, Kavanaugh, even Katie Hill resigning because of "revenge porn") which simply confirm their innate bias.
I'm mostly concerned with civil liberties (something Democrats used to hold dear; now they are indistinguishable from R's). I was a Democrat. I don't particularly care for Kamala Harris because she epitomizes (to me) the abuse of power vested in an officeholder.
I hope that covered the various posts.
The end.

Trump ain't a rightie. He's a lefty. And the folks on the board are reacting to his absurd policies and utterances....but because you don't practice what you preach, you ASSUME everyone here is on the left because of the little R by Trump's name, and ASSUME we're reacting to right wing policies.
So you OWN the company? Do I have that right? I think your participation of second chance programs is great, bravo! We have had direct---direct---exposure to the criminal justice system. It's beyond broken, but Trump only handles the Federal system. I certainly applaud what I've read about that bill, but I have yet to see a comprehensive essay on what's in the bill.
MDlax is a real, actual, conservative Republican. And he, thankfully, doesn't buy what Trump is selling.
We discussed that here. I can't recall if anyone said it was ok, or not, my apologies. But yours truly finds that behavior repugnant, and very, very dangerous. PB's not worried about being "fair".
On the one hand, it takes "decades to process abuse" yet Kav's accusers were too long ago, so must be deranged and politically motivated, and half of Trump's accusers are too "homely" to be believed...
It's all through the lens that most Dems, libs, and all socialists, etc, etc are evil, awful, and must be fought at every turn...
Yes, I'm an actual lifetime R, conservative in some ways, forward leaning in others...but I don't assume those with more liberal ideas, policies, are evil, must be stopped. I may think they are being unrealistic, haven't thought through the adverse implications of policy positions, get too far out over their skis at times, but most folks I assume, left and right, actually want their world, their community, their families to prosper, equitably...they actually do care about their neighbors, not just themselves.
Of course, there are indeed malign actors on the left and on the right for whom personal power is their god. They concern me, especially when they gain immense power...

Re: Sexual Assault ~ #MeToo ~ #TimesUp for Epstein's friends
I believe that there's a world of difference between what 'may have' happened 3 decades ago with Kavanaugh versus something actually happening today in real time such as with Hill.
Regarding Kavanaugh's accusers, every one of their stories has been shot down. That was easy to predict btw. They are today's Crystal Mangum and Jackie Coakley.
Regarding Christine Blasey Ford specifically, I am sorry but I watched her proceeding live, and it's beyond sad: she is a nutter, pure and simple, no other way to put it. She needs professional help.
And oh by the way, here is her lawyer in that famously conservative rag Newsweek:
https://www.newsweek.com/christine-blas ... ny-1458217
I won't repost the stories about her dad and family not backing her because they say that she might be a tad over-partisanized...c'mon MDLax, your continuing support of her account is painful to read.

Kav should have insisted on the full colonoscopy and told the truth about boofing and ralphing and Renate. Otherwise I believe McGahn when he says that investigation would have been disastrous to the nomination.

Right. I found her far more credible as telling a painful truth than Kav.
He weaseled around stuff that he could have copped to, but nope, he chose to lie and pretend he didn't know...
Given that comparison? Gotta go with Ford.
