Sanders isn't driving to equal outcomes.
Every single 1st world nation besides America, has what Sanders is suggesting. Every single one of them.
If you told any EU member country that Sanders is far left, they'd laugh you out of their cafe.
I'm telling you----the longer we let the bottom half of Americans get the shaft, the more likely we are to get someone who is REALLY a lefty controlling both Houses and the White House. Then we'll be sorry we didn't make simple, obvious changes to our economy that helps America as a whole.
But, in my experience, it boils down more to 'owning the Libs' than anything else. Hatred for people who come into town with an 8 figure budget aiming to solve problems based on a college understanding of the area rises above all else.
"All we need is good honest jobs!!" is the instinctive response. But, let's be honest, I wouldn't place a restaurant there because there aren't 50k jobs and residents within 2 miles of anywhere, and no manufacturer would set up shop there because there aren't enough potential employees and transport routes and distribution corridors that fit in to supply chains.
These are Trump people. Abandoned by the safety net, ignored by the commerce cycle, and ignored by politicians who need to be responsive to dollars once elected.
So they thrive on lip service, and, as good and honest people, percolate resentments. Trump promises resolutions and hollers that he's won them victories even when he hasn't. But at least he seems to care. Better than any other 'elite' ever, right???
30 to 35% of our nation, folks. That's the quantity of people so diminished that they buy into his cult. This is a YYUUGGEE!! failure of our society to let this many people fall through the cracks with either noticing or caring.
If we don't fix it, the next guy they elect will be as venal as Trump, but competent. Mark my words.
