attack 3 (forry, baskin/keough)
Midfield (assume some mix of zinn, baskin, keough, forry, connor, concannon) and whether connor can get it right after a lost 19.
goal
d3
ssdm 1, 2.
lsm 2(I assume reinson moves up, but there's an opening for the depth spot behind him.

FWIW IL is doing their fall ball checkins. Last years is still up, they were big on Marc Pion getting run-didn't happen but were correct in keogh/baskin getting larger roles.
Add goalie to that list...

Hubler is likely DM1 barring a freshman (Glassmeyer? Chambers?) making an enormous impression.

If LSM follows where it was trending toward the end of '19 then I'd expect to see more Blondell behind Reinson. Lots of other options for #2/3 including Lyne, whom a lot of people were high on but was set back by injury, and a freshman or two, perhaps most likely Jaronski.

Attack is probably the least of our concerns but I must say I am very curious to see where they go with that #3 spot as that will likely have a trickle effect on the midfield/who else gets PT where. Feels like it's been a little while since we've had a relatively wide open spot on the attack unit. Last year they pretended in the fall like Epstein wasn't going to start immediately at attack, but we all knew it was a fait accompli. Just more evidence that the lineups in the fall do not necessarily mean anything.

It would not surprise me to see Concannon play mostly lefty attack when he's in with Williams up top. Williams was one of the few downhill dodgers on the team that had success doing so. He also was very good moving the ball off the double team. I think his athleticism is best utilized there. What would you call that, an "unvert"?

I think Fr Owen Murphy has a good chance of playing. Hopkins third attack just needs to be able to shoot well with the other two attackmen being ball carriers. Murphy tracks well as an "off-ball" player. And would continue to fit that mold next year when Hopkins has Epstien and Brendan Grimes doing all the dodging.

Are there any recent videos of Murphy, or even better, Avon Old Farms full games?

You can find him in the U19 blue-white scrimmage this summer, replay is available on LSN. He's #4 on white (Grimes is #7 on blue) and starts at attack, playing most of the first quarter and then getting rotated in and out for the rest of the game. Don't think he had any goals but had a few nice passes and beat his man more than once.

https://www.ftfnext.com/videos/15631300 ... 9-fullgame

Here he is with a game winner for AOF in the spring: https://twitter.com/GKessFilms/status/1 ... 0849247234

Goal against Salisbury at 1:43, nifty no-look assist at 2:03, and a pretty incredible behind-the-back assist on the run at 3:04 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2l-PQbsKcLE

Goal against Taft (2:13): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eB_mVuPu3e0

Can't find any full games, and most videos are from earlier in his high school career when he was still at Medfield. Could probably afford to hit the weight room but he's got the vision, stick skills, and quickness you'd like to see from an attackman. All the better that he apparently has a cannon from the wing and up top. And as a predominant righty who can move around the formation a little bit, he seems like he'd be a good fit with (ambidextrous) Epstein at X and the lefty Williams on the other side if you're looking for a balanced unit.

RIP Blackstone Apartments on North Charles. The school is turning it into a hotel. Honestly not a bad idea. The Colonnade sells out way too quickly these days, nice to have another option on campus.

As a NEWest lax fan posted up in the Rust Belt, I can assure you that you can get live streams of most games, and replays of none.

This is disappointing for those of us who officiate and have games of our own to be at while the NEWest games are playing out.

My old homestead during my upperclassman years. My apartment had a Murphy bed with a decades old mattress, a stove that literally jumped off the floor each and every time I lit it, and a terrible cockroach infestation that originated from large, ancient holes in the baseboards. Oh, and a WaWa in the corner down the block (with a frat to match).

The highlight (or lowlight) ... there was a dangerous basement fire in the middle of the night that filled the entire building with smoke. Firefighters knocked on each door to get residents downstairs into the lobby. One lovely female Hopkins student rushed downstairs nearly nude wearing only skimpy underwear. A firefighter, noting her state of near nakedness, offered to escort her back upstairs to get some clothes. She turned to him and said, “No way I’m going back up there!” I took a thorough look at her and thought, “Smart girl.”

Ah, great times at the Blackstone (other times ... not the crappy fire I discussed above). ;)

Isn’t that the building whose lobby furniture got “rearranged” by Quint Kessenich, leading to a suspension?

Ethan Long, Calvert Hall 2021 midfielder commits to the Jays. Played on first line last year with Cole Herbert and Grant Mitchell.

The rumors of the death of the Calvert Hall pipeline have been greatly exaggerated.

Long (2021) and Tyler Dunn (2020) make 2 from the CHC.

Plus the sophomore attackman, Truitt Sunderland, mentioned in an article that he's a huge JHU fan. He looks very good.

But are the rumors of Hopkins overall recruiting and potentially as it relates to Petro greatly exaggerated?
Once again, I am not saying Xanders or IL or anybody can create a definitive accurate list of lacrosse recruits.
It is often, easy is the wrong word but I'll use it, to identify the potentially exceptional players.
Contad, Aitken, and Moore have certainly worked out well for the 'Hoos - and I am here to tell you Shellenberger will be no different
and Hopkins fans would shudder to think about 2019 and beyond without Epstein
so 60% of the 2021 5 stars are gone - Michigan has 1, Penn State has 1 and Maryland has 2
On the heels of an 18 person class that garnered a non Top 10 ranking - we have not snared any of the hyped fish
It's interesting to say the least
From a lacrosse standpoint you would think Hopkins would be very attractive to an offensive player to see the field quickly

For example - the last time Hopkins made the final four - if the star ranking were in effect
Shack, Tinney, Fields, Pellegrino, Valis would have probably or certainly been 5 stars in their years
Enright, Reed, Brown, Wells would have likely been at least 4 stars

Now you can clearly argue that Hopkins has 2 5 stars - DeSimone and Zinn - that scored 9 goals combined last year and that is part of the problem.
If they do not dramatically improve that stat - Hopkins has virtually no hope at a successful season -if they do the first midfield could be a handful.

But right now Hopkins has maybe the lowest number of 5 stars that I can recall - Epstein, DeSimone, Zinn and maybe Williams? That's why this 2020 class is so important

At least the 2021 class size is small so far
