according to reports and what I've heard, he wants to play QB at a DI in an "option system". I have never seen Jared play football but I know he had a few non power-5 football offers out of HS, including Navy.keno in reno wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2019 5:16 pmNice to be a superior athlete. Curious what position he'll play. QB seems like a little too much to ask for just one year, but Greg Paulus did it from Duke basketball to Syracuse football so it can be done.Tdemling6 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2019 12:34 pm Jared Bernhardt could possibly take a fifth year for football

Re: Maryland 2020
His HS hightlights in Florida were pretty awesome; would have been perfect for the old Delaware Wing T. Missing spring football practice isn't good for an aspiring QB with 1 year to play though.
Also, is it mandatory that he has to transfer schools to play another sport or is he just opening up his options? If it's mandatory, that seems like a ridiculous rule.
Re: Maryland 2020
They are saying he play at Maryland if that works. Transfer portal is so he can explore his options.

Looks like IL is having their September 1st mid-night tournament and Tillman is coaching one of the teams

Re: Maryland 2020
There's no way that works at quarterback. As bad as Maryland has been, they have a very good, proven transfer from Va Tech right now who has at least 2 years of eligibility, plus Pigrome who is probably a better athlete than Jared.
I don't doubt Jared at all, he is a supreme athlete and the Terps are lucky he didn't choose Navy football 4 years ago, but stepping into an FBS QB position without playing for 4 years and worse, skipping spring practice, is a real long shot. Slot receiver at Maryland or a similar school seems more reasonable. If he only wants to play QB, an FCS school like Towson seems more plausible, but there are a lot of good QB's at that level too. Whatever he chooses, it's a pretty awesome college story he's written.
Re: Maryland 2020
He's open to playing other positions. Just wants to compete. It will be really interesting to see where he ends up. His eyes are wide open, and he knows how football programs work.

A Tubby Raymond reference.

Looking at 2005 until today, Maryland is the top team in Men's D1 Lacrosse.

Re: Maryland 2020
He's going to be a decent option QB in a mid/low tier D1 program. Will be a great storyline. Then he'll move on to pro lacrosse & the 3 brothers will travel the country/world putting on camps & clinics making decent $ while making amazing memories. Wish them all the absolute best because it's such a rare life they are living.Wheels wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2019 2:03 pm More from Bernhardt:

Ok, Duke has won 3 times, UVA twice and Syracuse twice in the only measure that matters. Even Hopkins won in 2005 and 2007. I love the Terps and I think they are darn close to being the best since 2005 if they had beaten UVA in '11, Loyola, UNC or Denver (which was a much better team in 2015), then they could be the best. But that's not the facts, so they're not.admin wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 1:25 pm Looking at 2005 until today, Maryland is the top team in Men's D1 Lacrosse.
Re: Maryland 2020
UVa actually had three during that span: 2006, 2011, 2019. Weird list.keno in reno wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 11:19 pmOk, Duke has won 3 times, UVA twice and Syracuse twice in the only measure that matters. Even Hopkins won in 2005 and 2007. Re: Maryland 2020
UVA in 2016 and 2017 hurts them.
And I beg to differ about "the only measure that matters". Playing in the Championship Final is meaningful. Going to the Final Four is meaningful. Playing in the post-Season is meaningful. Beating good teams during the regular season is meaningful.

No, because fantasy and facts is pretty much an oxymoron.keno in reno wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 11:19 pmOk, Duke has won 3 times, UVA twice and Syracuse twice in the only measure that matters. Re: Maryland 2020
UVa has had those losing seasons (7-8) in 2013 and 2016, and were only 8-7 in 2017. While UMd has been consistently good, so it ends up being how you account for things.Laxter wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 12:28 amUVa actually had three during that span: 2006, 2011, 2019.
