So...you're saying Trump is an idiot???
Trump's idiocy?
Anytime Trump actually becomes interested in 'facts' you just let us know, Salty.
We'll be waiting.
For some delusional righties, Messiah Trump can do no wrong. However, the facts show otherwise. Just now I saw a TV news item where Trump was quoted as saying that Ilhan Omar is a Jew hater and that any Jew who voted for her and for Democrats is "disloyal".
The idiot fails to understand that 79% of Jewish Americans voted for Democrats in the 2018 midterms, according to Pew Research Center. The moron also fails to understand that Omar's district in Minneapolis/Hennepin County is the state's Jewish district where the vast majority of Jews voted for her. Moronic imbecile Trump also fails to understand that Jewish Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey is Omar's best friend.
Trump needs to remove his brains from his stink hole and to think before he speaks or writes. And his disciples need to stop defending his endless stupidity. Their efforts are beyond embarrassing.

True. However, I couldn't blame the skunk for being the way it is. I would put the blame squarely on the shoulders of the half wit or half wits who put him there.

I tried to explain why this is a silly and embarrassing endeavor elsewhere in this thread, and received OS's clever "TDS" moniker and sash. It is embarrassing because it was never going anywhere, and yet the President uses a nation-state's unwillingness to part with its own terra firma to cancel a prearranged and planned trip to another sovereign and head of state. It's not professional, diplomatic or smart.youthathletics wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 10:26 amHelp me understand why this is embarrassing? My comments above -- before Il Duce decided to slight the Danes, with what appears to be a little tantrum -- suggested that this is not a serious endeavor; that Trump uses this like so many things: to distract from his inability to manage the country and deal with problems, to allow him messaging to his base for reelection purposes and to make room for his Obama fetishism.
I have no idea if the sale of Greenland (and its inhabitants?) is a "prudent" decision for the Danes or Greenlanders. I don't have any access to the due diligence data that would be required to understand the ramifications of this to the Danes, etc. I am not suggesting that Greenland is not located in a strategic area or that its potential mineral and resource wealth would, if acquired by the United States, be a bad thing. I am suggesting that this is an act of gross futility, and a foolish use of what little time this President and this Administration appear to actually devote to governance.

Huawei & the Greenland purchase are both legit news topics, on their own.
We don't know who leaked the Greenland story & what lower level, back channel comms took place with the Danes.
I posted the reliable reporting that the strategic benefits of purchasing Greenland was being discussed by the military.
It wasn't Trump's original hare-brained idea.

That's the problem you're having Salty.
You've made repeatedly clear that you supposedly don't like various aspects of Trump's behavior, just favor some of his policies, yet object to those critiques of his behaviors. At literally every turn. That smacks of being a toady.
You repeat all sorts of nonsense about HOAX, DEEP STATE, FAKE NEWS, blah blah blah, you defend every jerk he appoints...and then try to normalize what he spews with"explanations" of what would be a reasonable policy, sorta consistent, with his spewing. We call BS, you claim TDS.
For instance, you say the military was talking about "purchasing Greenland". But the "facts" you posted say something quite different, that the military is interested in establishing some bases in Greenland, requiring both their approval and the sale of some land. HUGE difference, but hey, it's Trump, don't take him literally...

Lighting the mood a tad,
My remote was to be to Thule Greenland - I am like no way man - going to the outbacks of Australia. Challenger, TDRS, 6 months on hands in Blue Cube, Thule. Never happened. Not to be funny but could have had some cool winter gear which unfortunately got anyway, be careful what you wish for.

In the past 24 hours Trump cancelled a trip to Denmark because it wouldn’t sell him Greenland, referred to American Jews who vote Democratic as disloyal, and tweeted Israeli Jews view him as the “second coming of God” and the “King of Israel.”

Today on MSNBC's MJ it was reported that the a proposed Greenland purchase was a serious discussion item within the Trump Admin. Re: Orange Duce
The real reason the trip was canceled had nothing to do with Greenland. Rather the cancelation was due to "warm welcome' the Danish people had planned for the COOO. The Danish people made arrangements with the Belgians to borrow their iconic Manneken Pis statue. Guess the Danes felt it was "an appropriate welcoming gesture" for DD-K. Of course, Trump didn't understand the symbolism.Conway.Miller and Mulvaney eventually convinced Trump he should be P.O.ed.seacoaster wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 10:21 amThe guy is just such an embarrassment.holmes435 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 9:10 am Trump cancels visit to Denmark after they refuse to discuss selling Greenland. I didn't watch Ms. Tett, but I did read the excerpts you (might have been someone else) posted about her comments, and those of another reporter. Military interested in some bases, concerned about global warming, private equity might want to look at Greenland for same reasons. All of that makes sense. But that ain't "purchasing Greenland".
But Trump's an idiot and a jerk. And you want to somehow normalize that.

This sort of reaction to the leaked story could have something to do with Trump's cancellation :https://www.washingtonpost.com/business ... directive/
With melting ice making the region more accessible, the United States has been firm in trying to counter any moves by Russia and China in the Arctic. China declared itself a “near-Arctic nation” last year and has defended its desire for a “Polar Silk Road” in which Chinese goods would be delivered by sea from Asia to Europe.
China recently sought to bankroll the construction of three airports in Greenland, drawing concern from then-Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and prompting the Pentagon to make the case to Denmark that it should fund the facilities itself rather than rely on Beijing.
“Countries should be wary of piling on monumental debt, particularly ‘loan to own’ projects, that undermines their freedom of political action and sovereign choices,” a Pentagon official, Johnny Michael, said previously. “Beijing’s lack of transparency in its polar research, expeditionary activities and approach to natural resource development is also of concern.”
The idea of a sale to the United States was also ridiculed Friday by politicians in Denmark, including Lars Løkke Rasmussen, who was the country’s prime minister until June and now serves as the leader of the opposition party.
“It must be an April Fool’s Day joke ... but totally out of season!” he wrote on Twitter.
“Greenland is rich in valuable resources such as minerals, the purest water and ice, fish stocks, seafood, renewable energy and is a new frontier for adventure tourism,” the ministry said in a tweet. “We’re open for business, not for sale.”
