Sure sounds like the kind of parties Swetnick describes in her account.
Sure sounds like the kind of parties MANY people can describe. Univeristy sponsored and funded IFC used to make it MANDATORY, and actually provided the 7 kegs that were dropped off at the hosting frats house on Thursday afternoon, for a MANDATORY party that started at 2am, friday morning. Hence the name 2' oclock club.

And suddenly, it's soddum and glennorrah for kids to have keggers? Guess they should be playing video games instead

"Tall".

"Tall" is what my nieces have called their paternal grandfather all their life. The why doesn't matter. What matters is if you, or anyone that is pretending that this isn't political playbooking, has words that their own. That the words have meanings with friends, family, kids, etc. I forget what a frat brother called burning his bodily produced methane and lighting it on fire with a lighter. Could do it on request. Would 'boofing" be the term?

A drunk that went to Yale, that was NOT a legacy rich kid like Bush. Think about it. You guys are off the rails on this topic. It's ok for tough guy cops to drink hard, then be trusted with aimed weapons and driving around hungover? Umm....ok. A judge just reads.
Yeah.......plenty or working class folks are members at Burning Tree and Congressional.......man you know how hard it is to get on at Ponkapoag and Franklin Park!
Then why do people aspire to attend colleges with these "types". Put their kids in positions that allow them to rub shoulders them.
You seemed to imply old Brett had it rough. He mentioned he had no “help”...tell a kid from Brockton or even Leominster that Brett had it rough.....A Supreme Court judge lying is disqualifying for me.

I'm not a pretend lib, but I have a comment: so your sales pitch here is that Ford is lying, and "the Deep State" put her up to it?

Do I have this right?

I've noticed you still haven't commented on Kav clearly lying his ass off to Congress. Instead, you're going after Ford. So you believe Kav's response to what a Ralph Club is, but you don't believe Dr. Ford, who clearly put her life on the line to come forward?

Did Kav come across as a judge to you? Or an angry petulant child who was too stupid to let the R Senators act show the anger, letting him play good cop to their bad cop.

This is Princeton's best? Pass. Find another Justice. It ain't that hard.
I was surprised at how unimpressive Kavanaugh is. Find another conservative Judge.

I really don't care if he lied about why he was in the "ralph club" anymore than if he lied about the "my lil poni" poster he left up in his room until age 13. And, how am I going after Ford? Of course she is lying. She could not remember who drove her to the party, or who drove her home. but only had " 1 beer"? Or , more recently, seemed confused (acting) as to when she took the polygraph. Also, not saying the "deep state" put her up to it, I am saying she IS the deep state. Why scrub your social media?

 She's the deep state?

This means there is a prepared hit job on all the Republican short listers. Otherwise, what's the point?

Tell me, so I don't have to wait for the book to come out: what do "they" have on the rest of Trump's short list of SCOTUS picks?

Should be easy to find. Strap on the tin foil and tell me what you got.

And you don't care if a potential Justice lies to Congress and America? Alright. You just lost all credibility, and you know it.

If you don't care that Kav lied, what possible logic are you using to tell me it's bad that Dr. Ford lied? Either truthfulness is important, or it's not. Pick one.

It is gonna be a long week.

It is now obvious that the WH is trying to do the minimum amount of "investigating" that they can get away with and still check the box on the conditions to voting by Flake et al.

Since everyone is now wise to the game, this week will be spent with news organizations vetting and publicizing the crowd-sourced Kav info that will be flooding in over the next couple of days. And the FBI will be forced eventually to investigate anything particularly strong that emerges from the crowd-sourcing project. Avenatti, for example, just tweeted out a photo of Ms. Swetnick sitting down for a video interview with NBC News. Since the FBI isn't vetting her story (yet), NBC is happy to be doing that instead.

Gotta believe that reporters will be crawling all over the MD burbs, for example, to figure out if they can ID the house near Columbia CC where this gathering supposedly happened. Seems likely that the truth (whatever it is) eventually is going to be coming out. I can only imagine the firehouse that is Ronan Farrow's email inbox...

The Democrats may win the battle over Kavanaugh but lose the war on this one.

There are plenty of conservative judges out there that a) don't have the same baggage as Kavanaugh and b) would be more willing to reverse Roe Vs Wade and everyy other left hotbutton issue.

Given the posturing and talking points coming from Republican leadership, I'm sure the Republicans would be happy to "teach a lesson" to Feinstein and Co for crapping on their boy. My guess is the Republicans will finally see somethign that makes them dislike Kavanaugh, withdraw him, and nominate someone even more right leaning.

We shall see.

You can't investigate things that aren't there. What are they suppose to investigate? There is no evidence at all pointing to Kav that he assaulted this gas bag quack of a PhD. I actually feel bad for her as she is a political pawn of the Dems. Btw the FBI has completed 6 background checks on Kav and no 'red' flags have popped up. The Dems plan has backfired, bigly. This has riled up the Republican base again. Good luck during the midterms. Your hateful party is going to need it. Prosumption of innocence is out the window. I hope someone accuses you of some wrong doing and you and your family gets dragged through the mud and the media as you struggle to clear your name. That is what happened to Kav.

Sure sounds like the kind of parties MANY people can describe.
I mentioned the Wapo story about the headmasters letter only as one instance of how this week is going to go.

Folks were initially/quickly dismissing Swetnick's story on the theory that it was not credible that a public school college kid would be hanging at parties given by the private school HS crowd.

But the headmaster letter says that these parties typically included 400-500 kids are were open to all comers. So it is pretty easy to see how slightly older kids like Swetnick would be showing up at events like that even if they generally weren't in Kav's private school social circles. It was a big meet-up with free alcohol, not a party where you had to have an engraved invite from Buffy, Biff or Squi.

And NBC is now actively investigating Swetnick's claims...

You show me a kid, today, that worked all summer moving lawns or bagging groceries, that attend these same schools today. Define "rough"? Also, define "working class" I played golf, at Congressional, in early September. With a guy who is an electrician. What is "rough" about living in any town? Doubt you know a darn thing about either town you mentioned too.

Have a niece that is trying to get into a college where her dad went (undergrad) They actually have a scholarship for one lucky student every year, in their family name. It won't help her get in, because there's donation "rich" and building named after you rich. Wouldn't you agree? So, never said Kav didn't have money to have a comfortable life. Only mowed lawns for beer money. Tough for your Fairfield county kind (rich kid, private school, Ivy grad) to work when in high school if they are spending thousands playing club ball, or attendin lax bro camp. Don't you think? But, really not understanding your point. At all. Kav. still got good grades. Very good grades. Sounds like a party animal to me. Did Kavs detractors also get into Yale law school, because they didnt vomit? exactly

It would appear Kav has been on the Supremes list for quite a while
There's about 20 people on Trump's list of potential SCOTUS nominees. The list came out in three parts.

Kav wasn't on the first list issued 5/18/16. He wasn't on the expanded second list issued 9/23/16. Kav didn't get included until the 3.0 version of the list issued 11/17/17.

So there really wasn't a reason to focus on Kav until he recently emerged as a finalist/nominee.

Predicted you'd come back with this comment. Kav lied about why he puked when he was a child. Dr. Ford lied last week. (lied about her "fear" of flying, lied about polygraph, lied about NOT telling anyone about the Kav. event (beach friends), lied about not being able to remember who drove in 1982, lied about how much SHE had to drink that night )

You and yours keep on ignoring the forest for the trees. Gobble gobble Mitch mcconnell makes millions from ACA healthcare funds. In 2012, THEY feared a Kav. supreme appointment because he was the dissenting voice in the appeals court. Gee, wonder why Mitch didn't want him this time around? What do Mithch's inlaws do again?
Nope, dr. fords dad did NOT work for the CIA. Nope, nobody knows nobody. Strozk's wife had NOTHING to do with the SEC? Clinton was swapping cookie recipes on the tarmac.

btw, where can one buy tin foil today? Interesting, what is it about Ford that YOU find so believable?

Looks like there are now a lot of news organizations reporting the WH is limiting the witness list and micro managing of the investigation. Investigators have to pass things by Don McGahn first. Trump claims (and background sources corroborate) as long as it is ok with the Senate, ie., Senate republicans.

So it seems like the FBI has a pre-approved witness list, that does not include Kavanaugh or Ford, which means no polygraph for Kavanaugh. No questioning of grocery store employees, no questions to try to find the house, etc. No attempt to verify anything Ford said, which is likely pretty easy to do.

Jeff Flake has called for removing the WH from the process but has not gone so far as to say if not, he will vote no.

Among republican men, Kavanaugh is only found credible by 40% and by only 30% of women.

This is not an investigation, it's a fig leaf.

Breaking news - apparently the WH is now saying the FBI is free of the limited witness list.

Check out this long long twitter thread from Seth Abramson (an admitted Trump hater but also a lawyer and former prosecutor). Tells a very solid story about all the many ways that Ford's story (despite its still remaining big holes) has already been partially corroborated.

Also, it is becoming so very clear how much Kav lied in his testimony. For example, he brags that he got into Yale with no connections -- it was just all grades and hard work.

Turns out Kav's grandfather (Everett Edward Kav) was a Yale College graduate. And it appears that Yale's policy is that grandkids are considered legacies for admission purposes. Heck, EEK, Jr. (Kav's dad) was born in freaking New Haven, CT. Falsus in uno, falsus in omnia.

Of course BK might protest (too much imho) that he got into Yale LAW SCHOOL (not Yale College) all on his own. Since law schools (unlike undergrad colleges) usually don't do legacy admissions. But come on Brett...
