-- win a PL tourney game, for startersxxxxxxx wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2019 11:16 am I am not a Navy person and have no affiliation with the program what so ever, other than tremendous respect for any and all who chose to serve.
My question for Navy people; what is the expectation for the program? Win national championships? Make final fours? Win the Patriot League? Contend in the Patriot League and win it once in a while? Play over 500 with a competitive schedule?
I am not being sarcastic in any way, just wondering what Navy people's expectations are?
-- play at least .500 overall
-- consistently compete for #2 in the PL (until Loyola declines)
-- at least .500 vs Army (PLT included)
-- keep JHU & MD on the sched
My expectations weren't any higher, pre-2004, (insert ECAC for PL), which is why I thought the 2004 - 2010 run was so remarkable & why I thought RM's departure was premature.
The addition of Loyola & BU, + improvement at Lehigh & HC, has continued the improvement of the PL.
Army, Bucknell & Colgate were already there by 2008.
I did my best to point this out to fellow alums & temper expectations 2008 - 2011.
The 8 game PL regular season + all confs backloading conf play, makes it harder to sched enough potential non-conf QW opponents to compete for an at large bid, without a W over JHU, MD, or Loyola, most years.
