Salisbury ‘25

Post by Jknows »

Any news to report out of the Bury for how fall ball is going? News on recent additions?

Definitely have some work to do in 2025, lost at least Jude Brown (eligibility), Jack Dowd (transferred to UMD), Reagan McNemar (eligibility) Braden Glushakow (transferred to Ohio State) and would think Luke Nestor (was in the portal but never saw him find a home).

Was not the ending to the season that anyone would’ve anticipated so I’m sure the players and staff are working hard this fall.

Only other news I heard was that YCP and Salisbury are not meeting in the regular season.

A 2025 focused Gulls team. Not someone I’d want to play out of the blocks. Lost a lot of talent but somehow they just reload. Another final 4 will be on the menu this year

Does anyone have confirmation that Nestor is officially gone? I’ve heard conflicting information about whether he’s returning for a 6th year or if he’s already in the workforce.

If Nestor comes back, it would make this already strong Salisbury team even scarier.

Also, what are people’s thoughts on Bromwell playing attack this year? He’s great out of the box, but I feel like he’s the Gulls’ best offensive player and should be on the field as much as possible.

Definitely no need to move Bromwell to attack. Gulls return Strub,Wong,Keaton and transfer Harritz from Cabrini, about 175 goals from those 4 last year. Keep Bromwell at mid and pull Keaton up to mid. Gulls return plenty on offense, plus Fogo, goalie, LSM, 2 defenders. Some new faces but plenty of familiar ones on the field.

Believe I heard that Childs wanted to add Swartmore to their schedule instead, believe another PA team so less travel

seems like an odd reason. they keep RIT , which is farther away. add RMC which is farther away. i am sure there is more to it. but York probably wanting to remove a few of the top 10 teams they played last year and replace with some 10-30 teams probably had something to do with it also. disappointed the York/SU matchup won’t be happening this year. i feel like those games are competitive, although SU usually wins.

Any word on how Herraiz is doing down there this Fall? Gotta keep tabs on the Cabrini guys.

These guys are loaded as usual, although losing Dowd is a big missing piece

I am interested to see how all of the incoming transfers work out this year. Herraiz seems to be a good fit to replace Brown. He had a stellar career at Cabrini and likes to play at X and dish the rock.

Would like to see how the transfers from High Point (D1), Trinity (D3 NESCAC), St. Johns (D1) and Harford Community College pan out this spring. Tons of upside for this group.

There is always a ton of upside to the Gulls. Multiple players have been busting their butts and waiting their turn. Guys with minimal playing time have been going head-to-head with AA players during practice every day. The foundation and culture are rock solid, along with the best coach across all divisions. A loss in the playoffs doesn't add motivation - chasing a ring is always the goal.

Every team is chasing a ring.

Jim is the winningest coach, but the best? IDK man. There are some INCREDIBLE lacrosse minds out there.

Losing is always motivation. Gulls use it just like everyone else. I've seen videos of Gull players describing NC losses as the sole factor in getting another one.

I can agree to a degree.

Maybe everyone is chasing a ring - only a very small portion is capable of winning one. For over 90% of the teams, they are more likely to catch a unicorn.

We can open the discussion of the GOAT - Let's start your list of who is better. Tough not to put the all-time winningest at the top.

The Gulls are always motivated. They are not going to change their effort, their work habits, or their foundational beliefs. They lost a game; they will go back to work and attack this season the same way they attack every season.

i think you can say Berkman is the best coach D3 lax has seen, while at the same time make an arguement that he might not be the best current lax coach. SU has significant advantages over 95% of the other programs. history, talent, facilities, location all come into play. Yes, most of those are because of what Berkman built. Could Berkman trade spots with any other top 20 team and be a favorite to win the NC on coaching skills? if all starters from SU transfered to another top 10 team, would that team be a favorite to win it all? i guess a more realistic question, could berkman switch to a mid level D1 program and make that team a favorite to win the NC that year?

I'll bite - who would be the best "current" coach?

If Coach decided to go to a Mid-level DI - maybe not that year(they would certainly be better), they would be relevant very quickly.

BTW - he's not leaving.
