They're good. The issue is their schedules. Both their schedules are far from perfect. The teams below may not be as good as Towson and/or UMass (though many are), but their schedules are more consistent with the rest of the NCAA Teams That Count within our league.

Michigan (B1G), Lehigh, BU, Colgate (Patriot), Dartmouth (Ivy), Providence (Big East) are prime candidates.
Michigan should be added for sure. Second add should be a Patriot league team.

Fading out UMass and Towson by making their roster and D undraftable gets scheduling resolved eventually, without going the forced drop route used before with compensation draft picks.

I know it’s easier to manage and makes secure mgt easier but only having 3 and change conferences makes this far less representative of college lacrosse. Maybe just to drive home the fantasy point.

Hey if everyone was bored and had bandwidth wonder what a non included team pool all star game would look like. North south game effectively which once was cool.

Matnum PI wrote: Wed May 08, 2024 8:09 am In a typical NCAA game, 3 attackmen and 3 middies account for the lion's share of the teams goals. Occasionally a long stick, occasionally a 4th or 5th attackman and/or other middies. But the lion's share is 3 attackmen and 3 middies. Let's call it 80% of the goals. Conversely, 100% of the goals against happen as a direct result of a team's D. By definition. That being the case, yes. there's a slightly higher emphasis on team D than on team O but only slightly higher. What if, going forward, we started 4 As and 4 Ms (instead of 3 and 3) in order to try and better balance out the O vs. D?
Yes I’m just trying to address the emphasis in some way, especially on a position you pick new every year.. your players you keep for 3-4 often and they can have their season crushes every year by D…Maybe additional players would work, maybe lowering D score or maybe switch out teams to ensure they play similar attacks. All different angles, I just thought reducing the D influence by half points would be easiest and potentially best fix. It still make D really important but you don’t have moment that stake your whole season on it.

All interesting ideas, happy for any to be given a go, maybe a vote would be best.. failing that, just pick your fave idea Matt.

If it’s teams defo feels like Michigan and Lehigh are correct after they just made the NCAA tourney

Currently defense has such a heavy bearing on score they can affect the whole team, whereas half point would still be positive or negative but maybe less extreme.

Would be an easy fix, keep defense relevant and maybe stop you having to swap out those teams.. who score well but so does O’Neill or kavanaugh or Brandau

Maybe put it to a vote, feel like more people would be in favour of this small change than more teams swaps?

Told ya. Shouldve learned from our mistake.

Conversely maybe this is the path to title glory. Have to endure a garbage D that puts up less of a fight than a kardashian in a NBA locker room.

Reversion to the mean play. I understand but the risk is catching a falling knife sometimes.

Funny thing is I thought after his FR year Fake was overrated but he really did make a difference in NDs title and Yales d has been atrocious for a while now

After watching yesterdays NCAA games, I'm reminded that a team's D, specifically, a team's goalie (and team's F/O guy) makes a huge difference. Much like our Team Ds. Seems unfair that one position is so important but the fact remains, it's important.

Was there any resolution to the debate about new teams? Personally I think replacing UMass with Michigan is an obvious call, Towson has been a little more relevant but I’m still fine seeing them go. Not sure there is a second obvious addition though, I don’t think those patriot league teams would be any more fun to follow than Towson is (though I get that isn’t the main consideration haha). Dartmouth under Sean Kirwan look like they are about to get a lot better so I think it makes some sense to add them now. Can’t say the same for our other options. My 2 cents

This is the current rosters I have going into the 2025 season. DO NOT TRUST THE CLASS YEAR DESIGNATION WRITTEN WITHIN THIS ROSTER. Players red-shirt, still have a post-Covid extra year, etc. Do your homework to make sure that players that are labeled as GRADs (graduated) have actually graduated.

We have a spreadsheet to track the top NCAA teams based on their National Ranking from 2005 through today (2024). The formula looks like this with T2 being 2024, S2 being 2023, R2 being 2022... B2 being 2005. We have this spreadsheet so we're judging the NCAA both analytically as well as historically with an obvious emphasis being given to more recent history than decade plus history.

=(T2*1)+(S2*0.9)+(R2*0.8)+(Q2*0.7)+(P2*0.6)+(O2*0.5)+(N2*0.4)+(M2*0.3)+(L2*0.2)+(K2*0.1)+(J2*0.1)+(I2*0.1)+(H2*0.1)+(G2*0.1)+(F2*0.1)+(E2*0.1)+(D2*0.1)+(C2*0.1)+(B2*0.1)

Based on this formula, with the rankings plugged in for the 2024 season, these are the NCAA teams with scores of 200 or less:

Score, NCAA Team, F=Current Fantasy Team, Ranking

23.5 umd F 1
34.8 nd F 2
38.2 duke F 3
42.9 uva F 4
68.6 yale F 5
71.4 denver F 6
73.8 cornell F 7
75.2 syr F 8
77.2 jhu F 9
86.2 gtown F 10
86.4 unc F 11
91.4 pton F 12
101.2 loyola F 13
104.0 psu F 14
104.5 upenn F 15
117.0 army F 16
120.0 osu F 17
123.9 rutgers F 18
124.4 villanova F 19
128.0 Richmond - 20
147.5 tows F 21
153.6 harvard F 22
156.9 Michigan - 23
157.9 Boston U - 24
166.2 brown F 25
166.8 Utah - 26
168.5 umass F 27
169.9 lehigh - 28
173.9 navy F 29
175.7 albany - 30
192.0 delaware - 31
195.2 stj - 32

Based on our metrics, we're doing pretty well. In a perfect world, Richmond (or Michigan or BU) would be in, Navy (or UMass) would be out, but, for obvious and less obvious reasons, we avoid changing NCAA teams. Bottom-line, our current NCAA Teams that Count is pretty good. For now, for the 2025 Fantasy season, there'll be no changes in our NCAA teams.

Dawg, the reigning champ is requesting the Hobart statesmen be included!
