There are two great and terrible legacies from Trump: the diminution of confidence in electoral institutions because of the Big Lie, and the mainstreaming of political violence and threats of violence as political expression. This story -- generated by repeated falsehoods proffered by the GOP candidates for the Presidency and Vice Presidency, and aimed at vulnerable populations of color -- is part of the latter legacy.
