IMO presents significantly higher win probabilities
Agreed.

I am disappointed that Salisbury is not on the schedule. Take out the COVID years, I think these 2 have matched up every year going back a couple of decades. You could track York's rise as the scores got closer and closer and finally York won a few of those games.
although higher win possibilities, i hope coaches have the boys more focused for this season than last. losses to Grove City, and Eastern were games that should have been double digit wins, but turned into losses, and kept the team from the post season.

York should be favored in the following
SMCM
RMC
F&M
Grove City
Denison
Gettysburg
Endicott

should be underdogs
RIT
W&L
Swarthmore

The only thing that would shock me is going 10-0 or 0-10. anything else is possible.
Happy Fall Ball to All!!
Just curious why York should be a favorite over my Bullets. I'm not saying they should or shouldn't be. Just curious as to your thought process. Gettysburg brings almost everyone back from a team that beat York 15-10.

We really won't know much about anyone until mid/late March. Analyzing recruits/transfers is fun but may not have much bearing on the final product we see in the spring.

Come on Spring!!
i have York favored because these two teams are so evenly matched. besides last year, they have played very close games and have rotated wins every other year. york being at home gives them a very slight edge

just my opinion.
I accept that

That's a solid response and between W&L and Gettysburg, York has played a bunch of one-goal games, so both could go either way. While they play RIT close they have never gotten over the hump.

Good luck to Brendan O’Sullivan (‘21) as he plays for team Ireland in the playoffs of the World Lacrosse Box Championships tonight at 7pm (ESPN+) vs Australia. Winner plays USA.

He’s had himself a solid showing, and currently sits 1 spot ahead of Joey Spallina in total points for the tournament.

He tallied 3 goals and an assist, including the game winning goal to propel his Irish to a 12-11 win over Australia.

Anyone planning on going to the Alumni Game this Friday. It would be nice to get some perspective of the team so far. I know that it is against the Alumni but they certainly have kids who can play still.

Game was a lot of fun. 11-9 win for the current team (11-7 until the waining minutes). Jack Michael stood on his head for the alumni.

Did former Cabrini Cav Bear Evans play? If so, how did he do?

Yes, he played quite a bit. His play was very strong, as expected, and he looks to be a great addition.

Deep; curious, I’m not asking if you believe York's record will be better than last year. I’m curious to see if you believe this year’s roster is as good as last season’s. I thought last year’s roster was very good despite their record. It’s way early but wanted to hear your view after seeing some Fall Ball

I think talent wise the roster is better than last year. My biggest area of interest coming into this season was at faceoff. Losing Facciponti to graduation was big. He suited up for the Alumni, and it was pleasing to see the stable of current FO players hold their own against a talent such as him.

thoughts on the scrimmage …..

alumni team had lots of recent grads. kennedy, green, facciponti, micheal, harnick, ranck, russo, clark, blackmon, grayson, wilhelm, bruno. and probably a few more i would have expected alumni to dominate such a young york team. they looked rusty. but still looked good. i guess that is what happens when you have to work instead of practice.

a few number changes for the returning players that i noticed

44 to 7
31 to 3
32 to 5

players that stood out

7, 3, 27 (transfer?), 32 (transfer?)
25 at fogo
45 and 35 (new?) on D. 23 on D is big.
goalie play was hard to tell. 0 in the first qtr. didn’t have many shots against, he gave up 1. 8 in for the second. 17 in the third both gave up 2 or 3 each. wasn’t paying attention in the 4th. i think the alumni were rusty to start so they didn’t have many opportunities the first qtr. seemed to get going in the 2nd and 3rd, and seemed to be losing steam in the 4th.

score was something like
3-1 after 1. 3-3 at half time maybe 8-6 after 3 and varsity won by 2-3

york is younger this year. a few players not dressed on sidelines. i think York will be better this year with a more reasonable schedule

Correct.
27= McDougall (Towson), 32= Gizmondi (Etown)
35= Evans (Cabrini), 23= Samson (freshman)

I am taking my son to visit York on the 26th/27th meeting the coaches/team and watch practice and scrimmages on the 27th. Any cool spots in the town to take my son?

For good food / drink I like both the Holy Hound and the White Rose Grill. Central Market is good too (kind of like Reading Terminal Market in Philly), indoors with lots of food vendors etc.. The Gift Horse brewing is a great spot for a drink with a nice outside beer garden area, but no food is there (at least not when I went).

For outdoor stuff, the Colonial Complex is cool if you’re history guys. Old revolutionary and pre-revolutionary buildings home/tavern/courthouse etc. right there in the city, the tours are entertaining. Lots of farm/farm-stand type places in the area as well, and they typically do fun fall stuff this time of the year (we like Perrydell farm which is right there in York). The Rail trail right by campus has always been a popular spot where students get out in the air to walk and run. There are also a lot of art galleries in the city if that’s what you’re interested in. Lots of gentrification happening each year, and obviously there’s plenty more to still be done.

Do a big loop around the campus in the car. Down Country club rd, and see the giant hill across from the main entrance, where winter sledding etc takes place. Some of the big sorority houses up past the main entrance on country club that are still “on campus” housing (not so for the fraternities). Many of the professors live either on the stretch of Country club rd, or in the neighborhoods up the hill on the left, as you head from main campus to west campus. There’s two short residential blocks between the “west campus” area (with the sports facilities and it’s own dorms & dining) and the main campus. Be sure to drive the back side of the main campus too, down W. Springettsbury Ave, (past the college staple dive bar “Murph’s Studyhall”) and see the College President’s house which is beautiful, as well as the other large off campus homes there that are typically occupied by members of different clubs and organizations. One block over from Springettsbury is W. Jackson. The 5 or so blocks between Jessup and George streets on W. Jackson is where the off campus “extracurriculars” occur. It looks the part, brick row-homes, rented out to rowdy college kids. You’ll know you’re there when you see the beer cans and pong tables littering stoops and front yards (IMO having it out front is an improvement from when I was there and the beer pong balls were bouncing off filthy basement floors on that same street).

Was there last weekend for the Alumni game, and wish I was still there. Have fun!
