UNC gets their 10th commit, and another 5-star.

5-Star middie Ricky Giordano just committed. Known to be one of the best shooters in the class. He played up on Primetime's 2025 team. He's a stud... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWkOXTBG3aI&t=72s

Looks like they're addressing their needs in the middle of the field.

#12 Rick Giordano M 5-Star (CT)
#18 Timmy Plunkett M 5-Star (NY)
#31 Henry Boyd M 4-Star (GA)
#80 Joseph Kim FOGO 4-Star (MD)
#98 Charlie Cacciabaudo Attack 4-Star (LI-NY)
N/R Paul Wable SSDM 4-Star (CT)
N/R Jackson Bond D 4-Star (TX)
N/R Carter Martin LSM 4-Star (NC)
N/R Michael Savage M 3-Star (NH)
N/R Luke Koman M Unranked (MO)

Giordano reminds me of Will Perry. Cannon from outside.

Carolina's 2026 class is still pretty light on attackmen and close defensemen. Giordano's teammate, Lucas Garcia, is one of the top uncommitted attackmen in their class.

Isn’t Plunkett actually more of an Attackman?

Anthony Mancaruso (3-Star/LI-NY) just committed. 6'1 and 190lbs middie. Cant find any recent film on him, but his IL page says he was deciding between Penn, Duke, and Cornell. So, I assume this is another good pick up.

Keep building that St. Anthony's pipeline...

Nice article on Plunkett... https://www.insidelacrosse.com/article/ ... kett/64076

"Perhaps most importantly, the UNC staff’s belief in Plunkett crystalized with a clear plan for him to compete for the lefty attack spot once he arrives in Chapel Hill — a position they’re thin in in the 2024 and 2025 classes. From Pietramala’s initiative to offensive coordinator Jon Thompson’s overall intensity, Plunkett’s mind was set on joining the winning tradition of the Tar Heel program."

Looks like you are correct, he has his eyes set on the lefty attack spot. Just a bonus that he can play middie too, versatility is never a bad thing.

UNC gets 12th 2026 commit... 3-Star Charlie Croteau. 6'6 pole from Oklahoma, prepping at Western Reserve in Ohio. A little raw, but can't teach size. Moves pretty well for 6'6. Solid pick up.

Johns Hopkins again misses out on every IL 5 star. Surprised they do not recruit with the ACC and Ivy's even a little.

I don't think any D1 coaches care about how many stars a recruit has.

When a 2026 recruit blows the same knee out twice in 8 months, hasn't played since November and is named a "5 Star", you realize how rigged the system is.

LAX recruiting rankings are like 20 years behind Footballa nd basketball. I have read some of the analysis of players I know very well and just laughed. I am 99% sure some these rankings are purely based on word of mouth

Great academic school but a different urban college experience than in the ACC. Only a few Ivys out recruit them……Some of the luster appears to have worn off their long lacrosse tradition even while the program appears to have risen with Milliman. We will see Where it all leads in the future. I think most neutral observers would agree that HOP still had a better 24 season than UNC.

I'd argue a lot further. The amount of resources that sites like Inside Lacrosse have or the singular other people in the evaluation business are very limited. There is no way they can see and evaluate the number of players to any real degree. The other question is, do they really understand what they are looking at? No offense to guys like Ty Xanders, but did he even play college lacrosse at the D3 level?

My take is there are a few can't miss players in every class that are very visible, another handful that most would agree are going to be very productive, and a large number that the people doing evaluations have no true ability to assess. So they use other methods.

Would you take a class full of four and five stars and call it a day if you given the chance? Sure, but there is a lot more to it than that.

Last time Hop won Natty was in 2007, the last Final 4 they made was in 2015.
Last time UNC won Natty was in 2016, the last Final 4 they made was in 2021... Just saying.

For sure. Though that sounds like the argument Hopkins fans used to make during the 2010s rough patch led by the guy who is now UNC's assistant coach. If you're touting accomplishments from nearly a decade ago, you're probably not doing too well right now.

Hop has made the tourney 11 times in the past 14 seasons... They've made one final 4 in that span.

I'm not touting accomplishments, just laying out the facts. One decade since you made a Final 4, two Decades since you won a natty.

One Decade > Two Decades

Yes, these things are true. Also true: They have not missed the last three NCAA tournaments. And they've won more games against the ACC than North Carolina has in that span, despite being in a different conference. Nothing another IL 5-star or two can't fix.
