They made it to the final four in ‘21 and ‘23. They’ve made it to at least the elite 8 four years straight. My point was simply that when your bringing in a new coach at D3, you’re not gonna get a guy who has been an assistant for 5-10 years at other schools when they are making below minimum wage.Bananas4Laxx wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 11:29 pmSeems like a cop out to put the blame on the second assistant for the defense playing poorly when your HC is apparently a defensive guy….BigMoose9 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 10:43 pmHard to bring in an experienced coach for a 2nd assistant job in D3. Cnu still made it to the same spot they max out at every year..:.the elite 8. They have lost that elite 8 game numerous times due to very poor offensive outings despite having the most AAs in the country. I believe they scored 4 goals on Salisbury in one elite eight game. The FULL TIME OC still around? Maybe that’s more of the issue….

Cnu scored 9 goals and lost to York in elite eight a few years back. Why is the FT assistant not taking the blame? Think about the OCs CNU could bring in

In the past four seasons they've ended at the Final 4 twice and Elite 8 twice.Bananas4Laxx wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 11:29 pmSeems like a cop out to put the blame on the second assistant for the defense playing poorly when your HC is apparently a defensive guy….BigMoose9 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 10:43 pmHard to bring in an experienced coach for a 2nd assistant job in D3. I don't disagree with your points though. I think the OC has done a good job over the long arc of his time at CNU, but the offense needs to evolve to compete at the top level. The defense has had some great seasons recently, this one was a step back with plenty of talent but a new DC. That tells me that maybe MT was too hands off or too trusting.

In sports if the team underachieves the HC takes blame.
At CNU if the team underachieves everyone besides the two full time guys take the blame

Re: CNU 2024
Imagine thinking 2 elite eights and 2 final fours in 4 years is underachieving. Especially for a team that has 0 NCs, 0 NC appearances, and even didn’t start making the NCAA tournament until 6 years ago. Comical.Bananas4Laxx wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2024 10:02 am In sports if the team underachieves the HC takes blame.

Re: CNU 2024
I don’t place any of the blame on the DC for the way things played out this year. Yes the defense wasn’t as good but they lost two all Americans and had a lot of underclassmen playing. I also don’t believe they are looking for a new assistant simply because of the defenses under performance against good teams.Bananas4Laxx wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2024 9:25 amI agree with you. Campbell Pozin, former CNU SSDM, joining the coaching staff. I assume as the DC. Played his 5th year at High Point this past season. Doesn't bring a lot of experience as a coach, but was an absolute stud as a defensive piece for the Captains. I like it.

Clicked his IL bio. A bit of an undersized pole at 5’5” 105lbs. Originally a ‘79 (1561 birth year) but looks like he reclassed to 2024 at StS&StA. Hopefully he comes in ready for action.pcowlax wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2024 3:02 pmWait, is there actually a guy named Christopher Newport committed to Christopher Newport?Laxattackjack wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2024 2:58 pmhow can you tell they are strong players by looking at the name?choochooCharlie wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2024 1:04 pm Some strong players in the 2024 incoming group

Re: CNU 2024
My son played at Robinson many years ago and went to Mary Wash (crushed by you guys many times). Enge has no fear. I think he had 4 goals in the state championship game. Not sure why the game was in Richmond but that's another matter. I think he'll do well in college. Takes it to the cage and is a good passer.
Re: CNU 2024
CNU 2025 class is starting to shape up really nicely. I was able to track down some highlight reels and these kids look like they can play.
Levi Wentz - https://youtu.be/8PKkw1wnlnU
Ryan Miller - https://youtu.be/4IbOuLx1nzE
Danny Kaplan - https://youtu.be/bK3j762oXas
Henry Maiden - https://youtu.be/g4OfyCIJk44
Blaise Coley - https://youtu.be/OfLgIfa2L6w
Connor Pinto - https://youtu.be/uq8IR67NQj0?si=sA3YYx8SoorM_RaV
The 2025 season will probably be a slight drop off compared to the last few years of success, but with all the incoming recruits and transfers, I foresee the Captains being a top 10 team for years to come.

i don’t know the answer to this, but curious…. when was the last time a D1 transfer to D3, made a significant impact? i can think of an Army to Messiah that worked out last year.choochooCharlie wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 6:12 pmShhhh. For CNU, a couple key players over the previous several seasons fall into this category...Andrew Cook and Ryan Young.Laxattackjack wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 8:33 pm i don’t know the answer to this, but curious…. when was the last time a D1 transfer to D3, made a significant impact? i can think of an Army to Messiah that worked out last year.
