Re: Tufts 2025
I mean, they lost to RIT last year too. 1-1 in 2024. Is that the “gap” you’re flexing? You’re right, recency matters and history doesn’t. So look, Tufts has had their number for years, Hamilton that is, but it looks like Hamilton has recently created a gap. If Tufts can get over the hump and beat Hamilton in 2025 we can talk then.SouthieLax wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 11:44 amVery reasonable response. Do you know how many NCAA wins the historic RIT lacrosse program had until “this century”? Five….Tufts passed them in National Championships and total NCAA wins by 2011 and the gap has only gotten wider, as has the head to head results, 7-3 in the NCAA tourney. But keep pointing to the 3 total NCAA wins they had in the 80s (2x St Lawrence and Roanoke).choochooCharlie wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 9:42 amYou guys are insufferable. I believe that number would be 50%.choochooCharlie wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 8:59 amRIT having 4 more than Tufts is RIT hanving 40% more than Tufts’ 10. 40% better is “quite a bit” ahead, no matter your fandom. No amount of clever word choices will change these facts.
RIT > Tufts.
Not to mention Tufts was not allowed to play in the NCAAs unlike 1993, so RIT had a nice head start…

No wise guy. Just a comparison of two programs. Could be York v. Lynchburg or anyone else….Why don’t you focus on putting together a semi-competitive schedule this year so you don’t get upset on your home field in the Quarterfinals again after a season beating nobodies.Motorman wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 10:50 amSouthieLax wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2024 8:52 am RIT-

Less than 5% chance Tufts wins vs Salisbury had they not been upset. Coach D should be giving Coach B credit for the NC. Facts.SouthieLax wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 3:53 pmNo wise guy. Re: Tufts 2025
There was prolly a 10-20% chance Salisbury would win in '23, and they upset Tufts. Good on them. Coach B is a fantastic coach. Last year that number is prolly a little lower, maybe the same given the home field advantage for the playoff. They got lucky the year before and were exposed as frauds who played a crappy schedule last year. It caught up to them. Lets see if they make adjustments to the SOS this year.choochooCharlie wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 4:00 pmLess than 5% chance Tufts wins vs Salisbury had they not been upset. So you feel Salisbury was lucky in 2023? It was never a game in the final. 2024 was a disappointment for Gulls, no doubt.callaxdad wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 6:24 pmThere was prolly a 10-20% chance Salisbury would win in '23, and they upset Tufts. Re: Tufts 2025
So, we can have a debate on who is the best over the last 10+ years, 20+ years or all time. We can quibble over which program is more storied than another. Quite frankly, a lot of hot air and hubris, IMHO. Why don't we stop staring in the rearview mirror start looking down the road through the windshield? The era of the 6th or 7th year grad students/super seniors is pretty much done, with an exception or two here or there, such as a kid playing for his dad. Tufts returns 13 of 14 starters this year, the clear Preseason #1 in not only the NESCAC but #1 in the IL National Media Poll as well. Doesn't mean squat! Who else will challenge? In the CAC, I like Bowdoin as clear #2. After that? Toss up. Wes? Midd? The Lord Jeffs? Fall ball just around the corner.....Roll Bos!!!Motorman wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 10:50 amSouthieLax wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2024 8:52 am RIT-

Nope, not lucky, my bad, an upset is all. And, maybe a little lucky, takes some luck to win a Natty.Motorman wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 6:40 pmSo you feel Salisbury was lucky in 2023? Re: Tufts 2025
Tufts is loaded for sure and a lot of the Freshman from last year will contribute a lot more this year. Emsing, Byers, ITO seems like the real deal should have a lot more points this year which will only increase their offensive firepower. IMO - Don't think Bowdoin will compete this year with the loss of Brynes. To be honest, I think #2, #3, and #4 this year are Wes, Mid, and Hamilton. They are doing good things up there in NY.callaxdad wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 6:58 pmSo, we can have a debate on who is the best over the last 10+ years, 20+ years or all time. Re: Tufts 2025
I'm a fan of and impressed with what Coach Mason is doing at Bowdoin. Haven't met him but know some sharp guys that speak highly of him and like what I've seen from the program. I like Wes and Midd as well, the Panthers always seem to recruit top talent. Not sure about Hamilton, don't know what they bring back. They were a hard nosed, gritty bunch last year! I agree re Tufts rising sophs, super talented kids. I've heard whispers this years freshman class is uber talented as well, we shall see. Looking forward to seeing what Bernhardt does in his second year at Colby.The12lov3 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 7:51 pmTufts is loaded for sure and a lot of the Freshman from last year will contribute a lot more this year. Re: Tufts 2025
I know that Bernhardt has a ridiculous lacrosse resume, but that is going to be a long slow build in Waterville. It's unfair to compare his first season to Mason, who took a losing Bowdoin team to 18-3 in his first year. The squad Mason inherited had two future NESCAC Players of the Year and a first team All American FO specialist. Mason's cupboard is not as full and the '24 HS class came on board before he was hired, so his first class of recruits is the '25 group which looks fine, but not many turn-the-program-around kind of kids. Sincerely wishing him the best since the league benefits from having strong programs top to bottom.
Re: Tufts 2025
Great points CO. No question about his pedigree. I have not been to Colby but have heard good things about the campus and facilities. Obviously a great school academically as well. I believe great coaches make the difference but, you almost have to have a great product to sell as well these days. A UNC, ND, UVA, Gtown or an Ivy in D1 are some that come to mind. Great coaches can win with an inferior product and the opposite is true as well. Having a great coach combined with an elite school is a winning combo! Wishing him the best. Having a more competitive landscape, IMHO, is great for the league. Looks like Tufts plays Colby up in Waterville Sat 3/29 this year, might have to make the trek to ME for this one!!
