Re: Hobart 2025
Steenhuis had a good summer in Ontario Jr. A player for St. Catharine's as a forward with 23g, 27a. Julian Race was a teammate. It looks like Emmanuel didn't play last season at Marquette (injury??).Though he did play in 22 & 23 for MU and played for D II Colorado Mesa before that. Curious as to Bart adding a FO with Valent having strong first year, Scofield returning (I hope) from being lost last season and a a high quality FY in Strange coming in from the IMG academy. Though as last year proved, it's always better to have too many FO specialists than not enough. Hope Shea has finally recovered from his 5 years of the grind.

Alumni game is Friday Oct. 4 at 7 PM. Homecoming weekend. I hope there's a good alumni turnout as it is a Friday night. Though I understand why. A couple of those noon Saturday games had we alumni in "subpar" shape.

Re: Hobart 2025
Hope nobody here is expecting a great football season. Kevin ah officially ruined everything Coach Cragg built all so he can be the man. Telling his teams how he once got a good score in his mcats which was 25yrs ago and running off kids and inexplicably talking discipline and leading the league and averaging over 100 penalty yards a game for years now. He’s a joke and far worse HC than Raymond which is the only thing that makes this lacrosse stretch better for me.
RIO football program built by Maxwell and Cragg. It’s all over thanks to this alum who’s completely snowed his superiors. It hey he’s looks and form the area!
Kid I was teammates with for one year is the guy who should be our HC. He supports his kids well past their college years and helps them get non football jobs-Nate Milne-far higher character we espouse in Geneva than Kevin has

Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

Re: Hobart 2025
Barley after second rains early as Alfred punt returner fumbled a return catch and we got the ball late in q4 to get the win. A far cry from the 30/35-10/14 type games they’ve been as recently as the last few years. You’ll see when they play Randolph Macon, IC and while Union and RPI lost a lot, our former AC Drach is going to murder DeWall as long as he stays at Union. I’m concerned Chad Maritimovich (an alum) is going to boatrace us now that he’s at Rochester.
Just a bummer having played for Cragg in the early years building this long run of .500 or better seasons after a very mediocre 70-80yr history to that point.
I see a lot of similarities in how DeWall and Raymond do things in Geneva and what they sell to the admin vs what we get. Hence I raise issues with the FB one.

You mean build a culture of trusting your teammates and coaches to commit to doing the right things? No game playing, honesty between players and coaches, and focus on getting better together?? Gee.. what an interesting concept.

Right side Johnny’s heading looks like a kid who just balls. Small but heard he was quiet one of the very best in sec V in lax and should’ve been AA and he looked like a kid who immediately demands to be on the field when you see him day one out there.

Yes, that's all part of it. Also ... commit to being the best conditioned team in the country, ask players to commit 100 % ( players commit to a dry season), maintain a strong and well-respected development squad. She has critics too, like those who describe the team as cult-like in its focus. But there is no denying results. And now alums are filling coaching spots around the country.oldbartman wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 9:22 pmYou mean build a culture of trusting your teammates and coaches to commit to doing the right things? FWIW, this is not to knock Raymond. I am very interested to see how this rebuilding year goes. I'm hopeful ... at this point what's the other option?

Rebuilding is being nice... EVERY POSITION needs a truly open competition. After the past 2 seasons, no one should be secure in there playing time.

I cant help but notice that Bartfromboston has not posted in here for quite a while now. Almost certain it was anthony Stillwell’s father pushing his own agenda through an alias.
On another note, im very excited to see what this season has at store. What some may call a rebuilding year may be just what the team needs. I think between a strong group of senior leadership and a very talented freshman class could help to get the statesmen back on track. I an also very excited to hear of Transfers from richmond, marquette, and Manhatten.
Hip hobart!

Re: Hobart 2025
any word on fall ball games? Rumor of playing Colgate, which would be odd. If true, would that mean no regular season game? They punched us in the face last season. Though February games in CNY, at least in Hamilton NY, can be frigid.

Colgate scrimmage at colgate on 10/18 supposedly

Re: Hobart 2025
So just 1 fall ball game... Wonder if there will be a few preseason games come late January/early February? We need players to stay healthy........
Now that we have athletic scholarships to work with, it will be interesting to see who Coach Raymond picks up with his first 2 or 3 signings.

Any word on whether John Harding is practicing with the lacrosse team? He's on the football team and had a solid first game. It would be a heavy load to practice with both squads, especially as a freshman.

He's with the football team in the fall. He isn't doing both.oldbartman wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2024 11:51 pm Any word on whether John Harding is practicing with the lacrosse team? Just the thought of a "PL77" gives me nightmares...they were around when a poke-check was effective--and painful!
