Okay boys and girls now that the Republican and Democrat circuses have left town time to get down to business. Kamala Harris is trying to do something very interesting. She has almost overnight attempted to morph into a conservative Republican. She wants to shut down the southern border like the iron curtain shut down Germany. She has had an epiphany and now is advocating for a smaller government and doesn't want the government telling Americans what to do. So the government will no longer be telling me what kind of car to drive, what kind of stove I can use, what kind of furnace I can use to heat my home, what kind of dryer I can use to dry our laundry and so on and so forth. Do I believe any of this ...heck no I don't. An avowed extreme left wing progressive will never allow smaller government ever.
Let's move on over to team trump. There is nothing new over on the right wing side. trump isn't trying to campaign on any issues as of yet. He is more concerned about how the Dems are cheating him. Who ever is in charge of running his campaign must be totally frustrated. The horses are off and the race has started. Time for team trump to start hammering the opponent on her many weaknesses. I suspect her complete failure at the southern border is her Achilles heal. The opponent has an embarrassing record as DA of San Francisco and AG of California that has the majority of law enforcement leadership in California ready to throw her under the bus.
Where are you getting the notion that “the majority of law enforcement leadership in California “ dislike Harris?
Did she have a successful record of prosecution of violent crime? Sex offenders? Cartels?
Did she have success as AG against big banks? Education scammers?
What’s the beef?
I agree that Dems are likely to continue to regulate. But let us know when you actually get told you can’t buy a gas powered car. For real and not by your Chinese news feed.
But you are right that the Dems have adopted a lot of the language and policies of libertarianism. That used to be aligned with Republicans but MAGA has blown that up. Wide open lane for Harris.
I got that idea by reading interviews from law enforcement folks in California who disagreed with her policies as DA and AG. There is one sheriff who was upset that he was used in a Harris campaign ad without his knowledge. All you have to do is a quick Google search. You can draw your own conclusions just as I did.
There was animosity towards Harris for refusing to put the death penalty on the table when a San Francisco police officer was assassinated. You may disagree but I don't think Kamala Harris will by and large receive much rousing support from law enforcement in California. If the Republicans are not as stupid as I think they are there will be law enforcement people from California popping up in ads that will not be very flattering towards the Kamala Harris record as both DA and AG.
"Boudreaux, who recently ran for Congress
and lost in a special election, ran a campaign ad featuring former President Donald Trump supporting law enforcement"
yeah, I'm sure there's plenty of MAGA in law enforcement, whether in CA or elsewhere...but that's not remotely "a majority of law enforcement". though I'd think it's like most of the country a 45:45 sort of thing. But one would actually expect in normal times for the GOP candidate to have a 60:40 advantage in law enforcement, maybe even higher...but times are a changing...the majority of law enforcement are in favor of common sense gun regs, and assault weapons ban, and tough penalties for gun trafficking. And the Dems are on that side now. And she actually does have a significant record in prosecuting bad guys and companies successfully.
Harris just went further on the border matter than Biden saying that despite the MAGA/Trump fecklessness, if the Dems get control, she'll call for the conservative Lankford border bill to be brought back up and passed and she'll sign it...Biden hasn't made that pledge and Dems generally want to get some additional concessions...but that's an important and specific pledge that actually is supported by big majorities of border agents. I think she understands the politics of this and will follow through.
