Time to flip the calendar....
Early prognostications...
1. Denison -- Lost some key pieces, but still has more talent and should respond to revamped coaching staff.
2. OWU -- Entire offense returns. Lost a couple d-middies, but defense returns four All-NCAC players. This might be the year...
3. Kenyon -- Core returns. Chintala and Company will give OWU and Denison a run for the title
4. Wooster -- Lost some studs on defense, but young coach is building a program.
5. Oberlin -- Similar to Wooster...on the rise with a talented coach...
6. Wittenberg -- Always competitive but haven't had a great recruiting class in a while
7. DePauw -- Might give Wittenberg a scare...
8. Wabash -- Getting the roster numbers up...
9. Hiram -- In an nod to Billy Joel, 'Not Moving Up, but Moving Out' after 2025. About time for the team and the school. Only three NCAC wins ever.

Re: NCAC 2025
Just saw a forum for the 2025 Mustang Classic... Heard a rumor that Denison might get back in but from the looks of it they have been left out. As much as it sucks Koch did put together a ridiculously difficult spring break trip last year. In my opinion too hard of a schedule but hey love the drive to play the best.

That was major mistake dropping out. Great exposure for both recruiting and alumni fund-raising. I suspect once you drop out, you can't just get back in when it suits you.
Re: NCAC 2025
Something to note about Oberlin they lost eight kids in their 27 class.

Every step Denison has made has been intentional to deemphasize the "toxic" mens lacrosse team. Everything has come from the top of the athletic department. They've literally hid in plain sight.oldtimelax wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 3:05 pm That was major mistake dropping out. Great exposure for both recruiting and alumni fund-raising. Definitely don't disagree with that statement - the athletic dept. in Granville is actively holding back the program through pretty poor management and woke decisions. That said, Denison didnt drop out of the Mustang Classic - was more related to the beef with CantabeneTopperLax82 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 9:12 pmEvery step Denison has made has been intentional to deemphasize the "toxic" mens lacrosse team. Interesting. That is reportedly why Salisbury does not participate as well.twohandsonestick wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2024 11:36 amDefinitely don't disagree with that statement - the athletic dept. in Granville is actively holding back the program through pretty poor management and woke decisions. Couldnt agree more TopperLax82 and oldtimelax. On the mustang Classic note, Denison never really found success there once they started drawing the more difficult opponents.TopperLax82 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 9:12 pmEvery step Denison has made has been intentional to deemphasize the "toxic" mens lacrosse team. I want to focus on the "toxic" mens lacrosse team as this is also not just a Denison issue as many D3 schools have taken this stance (Amherst is another big time program that had this happen a couple years back after their incident). Denison and other programs across the nation want to deemphasize the "toxic" lacrosse program that wins games and gives back to the school and the program. I get it... I really do but it bothers me. It seems like the small liberal arts schools would rather have everyone be happy and smiling than win a damn championship.
100% right about everything coming from the top. It seems like Nan Carney-DeBord does not prioritize the national tournament as much as the conference tournament. Happy winning the NCAC and then getting bounced in the first and second round. From the outside looking in that is a successful year and to athletic departments across the country it is a win. As much as I do not see eye to eye with Koch his hands are tied as long as Nan is at the top. Let the boys play Nan, a "toxic" alumni just donated a brand new Lacrosse facility to the school.
*Im sorry I like to rant on here bc I feel like sometimes you are the only people that can understand what i am going through

Re: NCAC 2025
Add to that list #35 (12 PTS, 12 GP, 1 GS). Oberlin had an absurdly large freshman class of 22 players (representing 47% of the roster) last year so some attrition was to be expected. However losing 41% of the class including key contributors (the seventh, eighth, ninth and eleventh leading scorers and the second-string FOGO) is attention getting to say the least. Anyone have insight into what's behind this?

Are these names collected from the portal and insider info? Their website lists 22 freshman on the 2024 roster and 20 sophomores on the 2025.Sportin' Life wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2024 3:42 pmAdd to that list #35 (12 PTS, 12 GP, 1 GS). Transfer Portal and Insider Info.
#28 to Susquehanna
#50 to Colorado College
Everyone else seems to be done with college lacrosse…
My prediction to why is not the team but the school. Hyper liberal, in the middle of nowhere, not much to do around campus. My guess would be Oberlin recruited the wrong kids/kids who didn’t know what they were getting into.

Re: NCAC 2025
Hasn't that been the general struggle at Oberlin for about 40 years?
Wabash is an example of the opposite. When 50% of the college pool can't attend, and 1/3 of males won't even consider it, that leaves a pretty small pool, but they've done a great job of owning the uniqueness and recruiting to strengths. Translation: decades of success on and off the field, where Oberlin has never completed that package. (I'm not knocking OC, or trying to stick my chest out -- just making an interesting comparison)
A couple examples:
In the last 50 years, Oberlin has zero winning football seasons where Wabash has 49 (even Kenyon has 10),
Since the formation of the NCAC, Oberlin has one winning conference lacrosse record,
For men's team sports, Oberlin has one NCAC championship (baseball), while their women have five,
All sports - Wabash and DePauw have 10-20 more NCAC championships in half the time (and in Wabash's case, half the sports).
That's a big hill that Oberlin has been trying to climb for a really long time.

It's either a thoughtful comment or smartass sarcasm. Learn to recognize the difference.

WC --
Everything you say about Oberlin is true -- someday they hope to have an athletic program that their Music and Arts Departments can be proud of.
You are rightfully proud of Wabash's prowess in team sports like football, basketball and baseball. The Little Giants have a long and proud athletic tradition. I just don't understand why the lacrosse program has been so bad in the ten seasons they have played (according to records on the website) -- 34-90 overall and a dismal 5-60 in the NCAC, with all of the wins coming against Hiram, who says 'sayonara' after this season.
They have also had five coaches, including a good one with a great reputation from the East Coast, Terry Corcoran, who left two years after he was hired. I'm guessing it's because the program never got the support it needed.
Good to see the numbers are up and the program had a 8-8 (1-7 in NCAC) record last season. Look forward to seeing more improvement and maybe putting an 'L' on DePauw this year!

Does anyone know when teams will post their full schedules? I see in the NCAC site the league play, but not the entire schedule? Thanks

Re: NCAC 2025
Denison Instagram account starting to drop the incoming First Year profiles. Denison fans, I think we can be excited about this recruiting class! It looks big and talented. They hail from CA, FL, VA, NY and MA and beyond so the staff have been busy! Of the 7 highlights reels I’ve looked at so far, 5 jumped off the screen. A 6’3” 220lb Mid who is monster, a 6’0” Att who is a clear facilitator, a 6’2” Mid that is PHYSICAL, a 6’1” Def who is very active and can run a clear as well. All of the above are 2 sport athletes (football) and the athleticism jumps off the screen. That leaves the 5’10” Def that is a TO/GB machine, who just might be the most impressive! And BTW the other 2 young men are impressive as well. All will contribute in the years to come! One thing for sure, no one in the NCAC will be pushing these boys around over the next few years! Excited to see the rest and get them all on the field in the coming weeks!
