No. My Chrome Home screen has shortcuts to: Rand, NPR, Military Time's, Visual Capitalist's, along with FanLax, X, and a coupe work related pages.

OK - Then why don't you post links to information from any or all of those feeds?
Instead of the Twitter stuff all the time?

I do. But as you have noticed, and I have stated this before, I am one of the only ones that does post links to Social Media, and my argument has been, and is still the same. This is how the vast majority of people DO get their news who are under the age of ~40. So by doing so, I provide a glimpse in to the pulse of the social media realm and that demographic of voters.

Social Media posts also provide real time feedback, especially if you read the replies of 'said post'. You can find people calling bs, adding value, citing related news.....etc. You can then use these posts, if they pique your curiosity to then search the web for related news stories. Why I often find, is that social media is first to the story, often with first hand stories, video, etc, it is not uncommon for major news outlets also chiming in on this threads asking posters if they can use their video or photo content.

Yeah but you’re not accounting for the vast amount of “bad data” you get from social media. You’re treating it as a pure pass through of what problem do
With their own money and time. (What is the truth not what people say). So you’re Gordley over or mistaking what you think you are reflecting in this “trith@ that you are trying to present.

For example I’ve noticed when I give you fair series questions on your comments you only answer the goofy ones and avoid ones where you have to answer normally I’ve noticed. You’re not reverting all of your own reality here. And these cats who whine “you don’t know me but here” also support this concept.

+1

As long as one uses their own brain to apply discernment, skepticism, curiosity, questioning when compared and contrasted to MSM - a lot of useful information can be gathered. Do you need to put on your knee high farmer's mukluks to slog through the in many cases fetid mire? Of course. Is a wholesale dismissal of social media's newsworthy nooks and crannies closed minded? Imho, yes.

I look at it as kind of like a fun and surreal obstacle course.

A good example of youth's train of thought in action was in the first minutes, hours, and day after Trump's assassination attempt. MSM was playing catch up as some extraordinary "front lines reportage" was being shared on X.

What are we afraid of? We're a collection of first rate, high functioning, finely tuned and nuanced minds here. A source of additional information should be welcomed, no? Even if it requires some effort. Kind of the same as legacy media, no?

There are literally thousands of people on the internet intentionally lying to viewers, that's what we SHOULD be afraid of.

Look at the pandemic. Look at rich American counties who had access to REAL information from REAL doctors.

Then look at poor American counties who get ALL their information from "some guy on the internet". Where some guy lying or distorting a medical paper is given the same value as someone's personal doctor.

Result? Poor counties had FAR higher death rates from covid, as they chose internet information over real information.

That's just one example. We all know American education is failing our working class, right? Well....how does it help them to pump them full of lies and disinformation?

It doesn't. And it's why Governments are fighting this stuff. Naturally, TeamTinFoil is convinced having the .gov fight disinformation "means it's a conspiracy"....leading to these idiots trusting "some guy on the internet" like it's the gospel truth.

I meant to preface my post above with this:

As long as one uses their own brain to apply discernment, skepticism, curiosity, questioning when compared and contrasted to MSM - a lot of useful information can be gathered.

Oh, wait. I did! ;)

As youth mentioned, reading comments can be an elucidating secondary function of the process of sifting and sorting wheat from chaff. Comments can function as a "crowd at a corner pub" having a lively exchange, and learning the viewpoints of others is...good...right?

What you share above are at the extreme reaches of both sides of the coin, and you certainly take a dim view of your fellow human's ability to think, reason, and formulate beliefs. You say governments are fighting "this stuff". Indeed. Are you also suggesting governments are never guilty of creating "this stuff"?

Big caveat: "As long as one uses their own brain to apply discernment...."

Misinformation makes this dramatically more difficult, and perhaps impossible.

Government's do it, too? That's the "they're all lying" argument....where two wrongs make a right, and we should get our information from "some guy on the internet" because a politician lied or exaggerated. Hard pass from me on that.

Yes, I take a dim view of American's ability to think, and so do you and every other poster here.

Know how I know? Ask any America about how good our K-12 education has been the last few decades?

And when they say "oh, it's awful".......wouldn't you think there would be some negative consequences for this failure to educate the poor and working class? It's got to show up somewhere, right? Because if it doesn't? That would mean American K-12 is in great shape, no?

Why do you think America is home to TinFoilHat nation, where when even the sun rises in the morning, there's a conspiracy behind it.
