Obviously, in retrospect, "suspicious" should have been enough. But maybe there's lots of "suspicious" folks at these rallies???
What I still didn't hear was why when there were multiple communications of a gun did the "suspicious" not go off the charts to "threat" and "gunman".
Sure, there's an investigation, but this felt like another closing of the ranks ala the Trump Admin SS cover-up of what went down Jan 6, the wiping of phones subsequently, etc. Really, really bad culture problem...heck, Trump having his SS guy promoted into the WH staff, ridiculously wrong culturally.
Who knows whether she was trying to change the culture, but man she fell flat yesterday, leading to the most prominent Dems on the Committee calling for her resignation, from Vice Chair Raskin to AOC.
Gotta give straight answers or have a darn tootin good reason for withholding sensitive info. If you don't know the answers, why not...be clear as heck and demonstrate some urgency to know. She fell flat.
The dumb stuff about DEI was stupid culture war nonsense; the SS has had a problem apparently through multiple leaderships. She's a 30 year veteran, so deeply embedded in whatever the culture problems actually exist...if she was a change agent, she sure didn't demonstrate it yesterday.
I think pushing her out, while all this is going on, was a bad decision....unless they already have everything they need, intel wise. Otherwise, all they need to do now is blame her for everything and the problem goes away; it satisfies the optics but does not treat the problem. I would have made her stick it out through the pain of the investigation. If that was me.....I'd want to be front and center and dredge through the agony of something this important and figure out where I fugged up; there should have been an AAR performed within 24 to 48 hours to get everyone at least 2/3rds the way there. And in the end, since I knew I was going to likely be let go afterwards, I could air what changes need to happen, which often gets caught in red tape and bureaucracy.
My good friend retired from the USSS 5 years ago, primarily because they are overworked, underappreciated, and have little to no faimly/life balance...and he was a single man. He was burned out...overtime was not an option, is was mandatory.
Makes me wonder how many hours these cats work a week...... and if THAT is the problem.

That's why I asked...I'm skeptical, but if they see lots of "suspicious" activity and characters on a frequent basis, that's the only way "suspicious" doesn't read threat pretty darn quickly, until proven otherwise.
Yes, me I see all sorts of reprobates in those crowds...not all obviously, but a whole lot of missing teeth and tats...and that's the women...
But that doesn't make them "suspicious"...
Seriously, there sure appears to be a longstanding cultural problem with this agency...cover-up appears to be in their DNA.
cradle was on here telling us there's no way they're going to admit they have manpower issues...
Re: Trump Rally and Possible Shooting or Explosions?
So the Secret Service has now asked Trump not to hold out door rallies.
What are the Vegas odds on Trump agreeing to that?

This hearing is odd.
Johnson from Ga, spends his entire time talking about Project 2025.
Gaetz spending his time on Biden cognitive decline

I was incorrect to a degree. They would have never in a million years ever admitted publicly they had manpower issues. The trump assassination attempt sorta kinda blew up in their face. Then the lack of field agents became the fallback excuse. Bonus question for you TLD. Why do you think the secret service would never make it known they were having a shortage of agents? Actually that is a really easy one, almost too easy.Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 7:45 pmMDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 7:37 pmThat's why I asked...I'm skeptical, but if they see lots of "suspicious" activity and characters on a frequent basis, that's the only way "suspicious" doesn't read threat pretty darn quickly, until proven otherwise.

I personally like to wait on verification on stuff like that. A lot of other news stories about his conservative leanings by classmates and acquaintances along that vein... we'll see if any of it mattered or is true.

FBI has not confirmed Trump hit by a bullet. It may have only been a piece of shrapnel.

Has the FBI explained the source of the shrapnel? The shooter had a clear line of sight from the roof top to where trump was speaking. If it was shrapnel where might it have come from? Maybe it was related to the " magic bullet " made famous in the Kennedy assassination?jhu72 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 3:02 am

The picture of a vapor trail next to his head was deemed authentic, I am rather certain a piece of shrapnel would not do that.Kismet wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 6:12 amshard from the teleprompter screen, perhaps - Orange Fatso will never tell us anything. I heard the Teleprompter shard theory early on. I’ve seen some videos which seem to show both teleprompters fully intact after the bullet passed by.
On the other hand, you would think a bullet would do a lot more damage to the ear than Trump apparently suffered. Mike Tyson did a lot worse.
Using my nonexistent expertise in medicine, bullets, and teleprompter shards, the injuries do seem more consistent with a shard than a bullet.
Re: Trump Rally and Possible Shooting or Explosions?
One might surmise that an intact bullet that near his head would have produced other damage - of course, we might never know because OD is never going to tell us although the FBI has requested an interview which also will never happennjbill wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 8:54 amYou do know that Arlen Spector’s great grandson is part of the investigation, right?cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 6:55 amHas the FBI explained the source of the shrapnel? Remains to be seen if the FBI investigation can trace all of the shots at some point? In which case, they were tell us because OD is not currently in charge. NYT analysis indicates former DOPUS was, indeed, grazed by a bullet.

Notable that Gym Jordan stopped asking questions when it became clear that the FBI director had answers.
