He should have left the second they demoted him after coaching a top 5 unit in D efficiency. Clown showGaitsRightHand wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 2:56 pmHe did.
Hearing this decision, was less of a decision by Unterstein. Sounds like it was more of a "you should go..." type of conversation.

I'm a UNC guy but a lot of questionable decisions by the staff as of late.

Brown's defense was the team's strength. They were 2-11
Don't know if he was even considered for the HC opening.
Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
Just for clarification, I did not say this.

Wagner belongs in Division 3 in all sports.

The entire NCAA needs a relegation system.

That is pretty surprising, especially the timing. Keegan always coached the heck out of his teams at Marist. A very good recruiter as well. Selling Poughkeepsie and the MAAC to kids on Long Island, NJ and Connecticut is not the easiest thing to do. I always thought that he would leave Marist for a bigger program, but that never happened. He will be missed.Gorilla Fan wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2024 5:32 pm Marist:

He is the new coach at Severn. Great hire by the Admirals.
Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
People do things for various reasons but leaving a head coach D1 job to coach a high school team isn't great for the sport.

Pressler did too.
Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
He paid his dues, he was there for like 17 years. Blame the school and/or conference for the job being no more attractive than an MIAA gig. Or the NCAA for creating a system where this kind of job is often a low-paying dead end. I find it really hard to find any fault with a guy leaving a job after so long for something new, regardless of reason. It's not his responsibility to do what's "great for the sport."

The High School/Prep world is starting to pay some of these guys 6 figure salaries and the ability to run camps/club teams out of their facilities.HopFan16 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2024 3:04 pmHe paid his dues, he was there for like 17 years. The Prep scene also seems like a healthier work life balance.
Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
It’s interesting to hear that these schools are paying six figures to coaches when they pay teachers appreciably what public schools pay and don’t fund retirement. I haven’t coached for almost 20 years. but Baltimore County never paid me 3K for lax. Head fb and bb coaches made about 3K because the seasons were longer.
At least locally, the trend in some of the private schools tends to be hiring coaches who teach at the schools. I don’t know how widespread that is.
