Well, DA has one. Loomis has a boatload. Taft and Salisbury have none.

Is this league turning upside down?

Any insight?

St I had a brutal defense this year. I watched them (on livestream) force 2 athletic teams _ TP and SP from MD -- into submission. And Atticus is such a GREAT name. I wanna hang with his 'rents!

I dont have insight but my guess is that much of the information trickles out periodically depending on who posts on their social media. This may not move the needle for you for your beloved Rhinos but Teddy Oh is new: from Sacred Heart Prep in Cali - goalie. Maybe a reclass (somewhere in his lax journey) as maybe should have been a 26?

Wow. Many thanks for the post. Loading up is one way to put it. 6 PGs is a lot (too many to me) and a bunch of new re-classes as well. Those are going to be some old pelicans.

A legit question, excuse my ignorance, not trolling. Where can players PG?

I get NE West of course, and I know Phillips Andover/Exeter and the Lakes Regions schools, Navy/Army prep, plus Kimball Union and maybe 1-2 other ME schools. MA Lax fan seems disgruntled by the numbers at Loomis, but if demand exceeds supply, isn't that the result? I always assumed many ACC/Big Ten/Patriot/(maybe) Ivy teams wanted 1-3 kids to PG each year. Am I wrong?

Fair question:

The reality is, a lot of these kids don’t need to PG.

When I attended a NEWest school, the PG’s were working class kids from Long Island who needed a year of maturing before heading off to good colleges to play hockey or lax.

Not prep school kids graduating from Deerfield and PG’ing at Salisbury.

The NEWest has bastardized the original intentions of a PG and I’m sure that some colleges, as you suggest, haven’t helped.

UP: I dont have a complete list of where everyone can PG but you hit a lot of the highlights but there are schools all across the country that take PG's. There are even finishing schools for PG's like Bridgton, Vandermont and I will throw IMG in there as well. I suspect there are quite a bit of schools but I think all of them are boarding as 'Wick does not have PG's but that is were nuance matter as they are almost all reclasses and the only difference between reclass and PG is when they "reclass"

MALF: Dont disgaree with any of your sentiment. I think the original intent of PG has not only changed but "evolved" with colleges / clublax driving the evolution and was sped up by COVID. Unfortunately this is new paradigm of the lacrosse arms race which I am not a fan of as I dont love 19-20 year old players in high school and even less of a fan of 24-25 year old players in college. All of this is reflective of lax remaining a niche sport that cater to the wealthy and the inequity is very apparent in this sport. But I posted awhile ago why people PG and #1 is by and large, why people PG and I think represents the majority of PG's with reasons being:

"1) Athlete has already committed but "the college" would like them to PG an extra year, rather than have them on the roster for a year so an "agreement" has been made. Problem is those "agreements" can be reneged but I've only seen it from the athletes side (when they get a better opportunity) as most colleges keep their side of the agreement (with a rare case of an extenuating circumstance where they pull the offer)
.
.
.
.
....and far down the list of reasons, next:

2) Athlete is uncommitted and still hoping to get their dream offer. I dont think its hard to get recruited in lax (low D1, D2 or D3) but it is very hard to crack the elite top 15 D1 and top 10 d3 schools so I'm guessing kids are holding out for these schools. To me this seems like a very foolish and expensive pathway. The PG lax season doesnt occur until the end of their PG year and most commitments to these high D1 schools already occurred in the beginning of the their JUNIOR year so it is highly unlikely a kid will get an offer as an uncommitted. It makes much more sense to reclass early, than PG as you get better exposure playing and (supposedly) dominating the younger competition
3) Academic seasoning
4) Emotional seasoning (ie may have had some "issues"

It was going on 30 years ago when I was in prep school. I knew plenty of kids that did it (including my brother). IMO it was a waste of time and money then and it's a waste of time and money now - almost all of them get into the same schools they would have without the PG year. But hope springs eternal.

Loomis is doing what Taft did when Nic Bell came on board. Sort of. But the goal is the same. Loomis can compete on a talent level with 'wick and DA and Taft and Salisbury NEXT YEAR! I agree that a dozen or more PG's is a bit much, though.

Taft this year has gotten a couple of underclass goalies with promise and one Superior attackman to complement their returning class, which is suitable. I recall one poster here noted that the 'rents at Taft weren't pleased with sending their phenom son off at great expense only to have him sit behind a mercenary, and that may have hit home. I have no inside info so I'm speculating here.

Ball isn't taking the "cheap road of having the majority of... starters being mercenaries" with the PGs he is bringing in for next school year. In the three yeears since he returned to LC, he has averaged five PGs a year. LC will have one more next season. Of those, five are likely to start. It's worth noting that LC's '25 class (excluding PGs) of seven players is small compared to those it has had in recent years and I suspect compared to other NEW1 schools so let's not get our shorts all twisted.
