Prep 10-7 over Ridgefield

So #1 v #2 seed for all 4 championships Sunday
Thought NC was going to double up in boys and girls this year. Looks like I was wrong. Still take the NC girls in the finals. Defense and goalie are too good.

Prep over Ridgefield is not surprising, but I expected Prep to win by more. I'll take Prep over Darien in the finals.

Good luck to everyone on Sunday. Weather should be OK. WIth the tournament mostly chalk, does anyone have any predictions?

LL: Best game is prep v darien in a pick 'em (prep by 2)
M: 2nd best game with JB v DH in a pick 'em (slight upset with DH by 1)
S: New fairfield should beat somers (NF by 4)
L: Cheshire should beat St Joes (cheshire by 6)

My track record is not great so thank goodness I am not in the prediction business.

Hand gets off the snide! Finally gets their first state title with the win over Barlow, 6-4. New Fairfield pitches a donut, shutting out Somers 7-0.

Cheshire downs St. Joe’s in what was, for me, a shockingly close 13-12 game. They win the state title that they planned on getting by playing in L but man, almost an all time upset.

And finally Prep over Darien 9-7, hell of a year for the Jesuits, extremely strong and poised in close games.

Despite the benefits afforded by going to 4 classes - Happy that the Tigers finally booked a title only 48 years after starting the program (and 11 tries including 4 shots during the pre-CIAC era)- four dads of current players played for the Tigers during those 48 years and happy for them, too!! :D

Also sad to see Jeff Brameier continuing to deal with health issues - here's hoping he feels better soon. After speaking with him before the game yesterday he is not planning on retirement. To his credit - he stood and shook hands with every Prep player and coach at the end of the game.

IL needs some new bots to do the HS rankings. PREP IS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND IN THE NATIONAL TOP 25! Darien is ludicrous at 4 (didn't win anything), as is Cheshire at 17 (didn't beat anyone). Somehow Ridgefield (10) and NC (12) are ranked higher than FCIAC champ Staples (16), although reasonable minds can differ. But there is no excuse for the Prep oversight.

You are looking at the public school rankings. Despite the perpetual massive advantage it enjoys playing in the public school tournament, Prep is not a public school. Prep is #14 in the overall top 25.

DOH! How did I miss that?

Still think Darien and Cheshire are too high.

Hey CT lacrosse community, it's that time of year again when Sticks for Soldiers holds its annual Zoom Summit and Thanksgiving Lacrosse Classic.

REGISTER TODAY! Sticks for Soldiers is holding its annual Zoom Summit on October 17th. Hear how your support for severely wounded veterans matters, and the difference we can make when we commit to doing good. We're bringing together another distinguished panel to share their insights and perspectives all centered around service.

You'll get to hear from Jim Tommins, one of Sticks for Soldiers founders, on how (and why) a handful of CT lax dads conceived of the nonprofit. Ben Harrow, Army Special Forces Cpt. (Ret.) and West Point short stick middie, will share his thoughts on service, adversity, and rising up to crush whatever life throws in his path. As a past honoree, Ben will also lend perspective on our efforts in supporting the veteran community. And Adam Fullerton, Army Cpt. (Ret.) and West Point goalie, will enlighten us on how lacrosse led him to service. Somehow along his path of becoming an Army officer he managed to work-in a professional lacrosse career (Team USA and MLL).

Do lacrosse players make better soldiers? We have no idea, but this is the panel that just might be able to shed some light on the topic. We'd love to have you join in the conversation. Registration is free.
