Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
For all the chatter about the FDU job, I gotta admit the hire is very underwhelming. Wish him all the best though.
Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
I think it is a solid hire. FDU was not a job folks were really excited about. Stone will do a good job getting them to respectable. He was a great assistant/recruiter at Muhlenburg. I think this was a surprise because we didn’t hear his name, but a solid surprise. Best of luck to FDU

Rhodes has an acceptance, announcement coming this week.

Good hire with local ties. Definitely a step in the right direction. I think he will do well.laxrules wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 11:05 am I think it is a solid hire. Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
Turns out that making up fake rumors about people's jobs doesn't make it true in the real world. Good luck to FDU's new coach, that is going to be tough to turn around.
Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
Truth. The stuff being thrown around FDU was90% garbage. I don’t think anyone mentioned on forum were in the mix or even applied.

I thought that opening was a formality? Great hire for Brockport. Fiorentino did great work at Geneseo.kuzandrat wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 9:36 pm Brockport has announced it’s coaching selection.

Surprised in the FDU selection. Some of the other names mentioned as having interviewed were quite strong.
Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
It was a formality until someone with more experience applied. Does kind of suck for Cornaire. Hes getting uprooted and booted after only two season and recruiting 2 huge classes to try and reignite the program.laxrules wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 9:58 pmI thought that opening was a formality? What's going on with Kean??...seems like that is the best job still open (once Rhodes announces) even though it is PT.

Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
Most of these are schools with almost no chance to have significant success at. Kean has little chance of having any sort of big time success but is not a likely career trajectory killers as many of the other might be. However, the PT issue is massive. It is certainly not some sort of tradition rich or glamorous job. It is in a conference that is barely a conference with no chance of an autobid. They will get someone with a decent CV I am sure but not surprising they are not being flooded with great candidates.MajorMacLax18 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2024 11:08 am Albertus Magnus College (CT)

Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
Muhlenberg has been very solid in recent years. If he has a hand in that it sounds like laxdad and homer have a point!
I think the other 'names mentioned' were only mentioned by one person who wanted to stir the pot with some made up rumors. I do wonder who the actual candidates were and what the process was like, curious what the pool looks like for some of the more challenging division 3 jobs.

Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
NJ schools offer a lot. FDU/Kean both have nice athletic facilities/campuses, access to trains, the shore, NYC, Hoboken, professional sports venues. Stone is a Jersey guy, I expect Keans new coach will be as well.liongoes wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 3:08 pm Muhlenberg has been very solid in recent years. Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
NJ has lots to offer and FDU has a Nice campus but, outside of Stevens it’s lacrosse at the D3 level is mediocre
Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
I'm not sure it make sense to say something like "NJ has lots to offer" when discussing hiring at a given school. It's an entire state, of course it has lots to offer. So do all states. No one is going to chose to coach a school because it is in the same state as Hoboken. NJ produces lots of excellent lacrosse players, most of the better of whom chose to go to college elsewhere, both at the D1 and D3 level. Rectify that and these schools could attract better coaches. Selling them on the boardwalk at Wildwood is probably not going to cut it.
