Former Syracuse LSM Tommy Drago is transferring to join @DukeMLAX, a source tells @Inside_Lacrosse.

Drago caused two TOs and picked up 3GBs in 17 games for the Orange this spring. His brother Anthony is a 5-star ’25 committed to the Blue Devils.

Service Academies. No inbound Transfers, right?

So with just one bite at the recruiting apple, so to speak, they're at a distinct disadvantage as to hoovering up the late, late bloomers. Therefore, they're at a disadvantage as to building a month-of May juggernaut as well.....more's the pity.
They don't take transfers but they have virtually unlimited class sizes. Navy is listed as having 21 incoming recruits, over half of whom either prepped at Navy prep or did a grad year at another prep school, essentially being redshirts.

I don't begrudge anything the academies do because of what they are there to do, but recruiting isn't necessarily a crutch for them either. Their 24 roster has 64 players listed. That's a lot of bites at the apple out of HS.

The most recent naps class I saw, within the past 3 years, there were maybe 4 actual recruited players on the team one rehabbing an ACL all year. There were players on the naps team that would not make the club team at navy. There are players recruited to play on the naps team that had never played lax before.

It’s a great prep for the academy but it’s not a place to get better at lax. Most recruits I believe by far are direct admits now at navy not from the prep school.

And the list of recruited players coming in for future classes that you might see posted somewhere. Many of these are not coach recruited players that the coach will fight to get in often they are players from HS who will show up at tryouts pleb year and then after one day will head to the club team never once making the varsity in their 4 years
Correct. 1766 would be accurate if he were talking about HS grad classes of 17’ and earlier.

This sport sure seems to be in disarray or is this representative of the times….seems so many are not happy getting an education.

More options and more freedom for student athletes. Nothing wrong with that.

c'mon, youth. don't act like you've been asleep for 15 years. youth sports, feeding to h.s., feeding to college has been in disarray for quite a long time. even as it's gotten "more organized". it's been a $¿¡+ show. no reason to think there wouldn't be waves of things in college that an observer would eventually find alarming. i'm well into the "tell me what guys are on the team and when we play" part.

I have no idea what is going on with this situation or even if accurate. However, some times kids transfer without it being a lacrosse decision. Collucci transferred to Virginia last year for graduate school from maybe Bucknell and just walked on. It wasn’t initiated or pushed by Lars. Then the kid ended up being a key sub on face offs. Who knows?

The college games are as good as they have ever been. The off field order of business is much different and changing rapidly but in the end that is background noise. The on field competition is what matters and it’s great.

Surprised he lasted there as long as he did. He was looking to transfer long before now.

My guess is he looked around and saw 8 LSMs on the roster next year including Olexo (probably and a 4 star they're bringing in), saw an opportunity to play a year with his brother, realized the winters are much nicer in Durham, and he gets a chance to get a masters degree from Duke. Also Duke isn't exactly overloaded with LSMs so maybe there's a chance he could actually play.

olexo's done as are the other 2 guys who got most of the leftover rotation. cuse will have pt there, but also guys that should fill it fine (sageder, scott, the new guy possibly, others. caccamo has played some.)
likely graduated and as you say duke as a grad year isn't a bad option. and they have potential pt as well next year. his brother doesn't show up until 25-26, but there's a relationship there. and maybe he got a medical redshirt as well.

Olexo won't be back for Syracuse (he's on the Denver Outlaws right now). The LSM position for the Orange could be a little thin next year. Dylan Sageder and Kyle Gonsiorek are the only returning players. They bring in Michael Grace from RIT, and have a New Balance All American and Vincent Bolognino coming in. I think Drago would have had a decent chance to play next year, but far from a sure thing. He did see time as a man-down specialist last year. He always seemed to be one year away, but other guys seemed to be in his way. Best of luck.

I'm guessing Mac Christmas will be the main LSM for Duke next year, but the back up spot looks pretty wide open.

Yale FO Nick Ramsey is no longer listed
Could see Cayden Onagi going somewhere pretty good. Wouldn't be surprised if it was St Joes.

Didn't get much burn at MD, but he is a human highlight reel. Some of his juco highlights- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iz-atn5HBRM
I really thought he'd get some run this year. I saw him at two of their scrimmages in the fall, and he looked really good. Flipped between A and M and caused defenses a lot of problems from both spots.
+1 especially when Maryland's offense was kinda trash this year I was disappointed and thought Tills would have tried inserting him in the line-up but he has more information.
I retract my SJU statement... hearing that he may not be D1 eligible due to academics. Could be a steal for a Limestone, RIT, etc.

Does anybody have information about Koleton Marquis from Hopkins? I saw him play at Don Bosco a couple years back and he looked like a can't miss recruit. He was a top 50 IL recruit and barely saw the field in his first two years at Hopkins. Can't understand why some team isn't bringing this guy in. He is only a sophomore and has three years of eligibility left from what I can see.

Read on another forum that St. Joe's was showing heavy interest.
