PSU coaches are an odd bunch when it comes to playing time.
They're stacked on the offensive side, but a number of potential contributors are riding the pine.
Hopefully, Lehman doesn't get buried - not a very good game against Stony Brook.
Penn State
Re: Penn State
Kyle Lehman injured per another poster.
Penn State now #3 RPI with wins over #5 (and likely to move up now), #11 and #17 teams - closing in on an NCAA.
The problem is going to be that Colgate loss.
Former PSUer Canyon Birch finally finds his role with Tampa DII, teaming with Towson transfer Andrew Milani who also seems now to have found his role,

Re: Penn State
We'll have to wait and see on Lehman, its been about a month now so minor injury no longer applies. I see two options since the regular season is halfway over, sit him for a medical redshirt depending on the severity, hold him out a few weeks to recover and have Lehman ready for the B1G and NCAA tournaments. He'll be stuck as a backup though since the attack rotation is clicking as-is now.
PSU has a number of talents who could redshirt as well, Liam Matthews, Joe Calandrino, Wes Scurci - and they have a stack of talent coming in again next year, so Tambroni is set for the next few years as far as talent needed to compete now with the ACCs, Ivies and other B1Gs.

Re: Penn State
Penn State may have found their face off man, that's a team which definitely needs a dominent face off man,
Reid Gills wins the overtime face off in that seniors all star game, teaming with another big need a tremendous wing long stick, which it looks like they have in Lucca DiBartolomeo,
those two team on the overtime face off, DiBartolomeo to Spencer Ford for the win.

It was more the combination, face off and the tremendous wing play - not just the face off man.Turnandrake wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 5:28 pmQuestion can the Fogo stay healthy? Re: Penn State
He missed 5 or so weeks in the 4 years he played Varsity in the MIAA. I wouldn’t say that’s a lot of missed time at Severn. I’d say he’s probably the best to ever play the position for the Severn school and one could argue to say he’s potentially the best ever to play in the MIAA. Opposing teams would game plan for him, he was a problem for opposing teams. Just fact checking.Turnandrake wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 5:28 pmQuestion can the Fogo stay healthy? Re: Penn State
A question for Tambroni,
can Penn State outbid the other teams, the “usual suspects” for a top 20 5-star 2026 recruit,
5-stars Kyle Lehman and especially Jack Fracyon have made a big difference,
meanwhile some large body offensive help in this year’s freshmen class, Hunter Aquino and Enzo Grieco (92 goals and 31 assists in 2024).

Re: Penn State
Penn State does best with under the radar & gritty guys. No doubt a couple electric players here and there make a difference but Tambroni values hard work, high unrelenting compete, and unselfish play more than stars, especially kids that think they are stars and want it to be about them. For that reason I just don't see him getting in a bidding war for anyone.
Re: Penn State
Liam Matthews teaming with Spallina this summer,
191 points in the OLA including the playoffs,
hopefully he can break through this year and contribute - still 4 years eligibility.

The 2025 roster is up including freshmen,
Army’s Ryan DiRocco is listed as a transfer, 3 years remaining.

Re: Penn State
The mystery, well it wasn't really a mystery,
but, Kyle Lehman's recruitment -- Penn State gets the rare top 10-15,
" Father, Steve, played lacrosse at Penn State ... Uncle, Chris Alston, played football at Penn State ... Aunt Tricia (Lehman) Alston, played tennis at Penn State "

Re: Penn State
From IL - "Much of the offense went through sophomore attackman Liam Matthews"
Assuming that is true, they'll be relying on Matthews this year, they could get a full four more years from Matthews.

Re: Penn State
Yet another former Hobart commit (2 years ago) flipped by one of our own. Shame on you coach T.... Anyone know if Lehman played in either scrimmage??
Re: Penn State
I’m totally guessing,
they held out the likely starting attack or played sparingly,
at this point,
I’m going with Matt Traynor, Will Peden, Kyle Lehman as starting attack - with Matthews playing a role similar to Sean Donnelly.

Re: Penn State
From what I have heard and saw at scrimmage: Traynor coming back from an injury out for the fall but should start practicing soon, Lehman has been banged up and played sparingly out of box and some attack in scrimmage not completely at full speed but he looked fine to me, Peden / Matthews & Dirocco looked really good in the scrimmage at attack and all came out of box in first half when they weren't on attack. Walstrum also not suited up still nursing an injury. I think overall, for a fall scrimmage, against solid Lehigh and St. Joes programs they looked good. All the freshman looked really good, definitely a solid recruiting class. Team has good depth will be tough to get playing time. The inside lacrosse article did a good job of summarizing the day. https://www.insidelacrosse.com/article/ ... -off/64142
Re: Penn State
Deep at attack,
Matt Traynor, Will Peden, Kyle Lehman, Liam Matthews, Luke Waltrum, Ryan DiRocco,
and they still have Wes Scurci, Matt Lazzaro - a formerly 5 star top 20 recruit - and freshman Enzo Grieco on the bench.
Matthews had over 190 points this summer in the OLA.
