This is a bit off-topic, but I don't know where else to mention alumni in the pros.

From Inside Lacrosse:
[Jeff] Teat finished the weekend with 18 points, involved in half of New York’s 36 goals. His three goals and four assists against the Whips came after that initial 6-0 outburst where four goals were scored in 55 seconds. He was involved in the next four tallies to build the 10-1 advantage.

"He just takes what you give him, he's a coach's dream," Atlas coach Mike Pressler said postgame. "He never forces something that's not there. If you give it to him, he's going to exploit you. It was huge for him too, to do this without Shelly [Connor Shellenberger] in the lineup."

In the final against Victor, Melkonian was 17/28-- 68%. Interestingly, Victor's fogos are Ricci's younger brothers, one of whom is in the 8th grade.
Cornell recruit, Jack Herendeen, is one of the 6 USA All Americans in Section 5.

Tough to see this news, but I am glad that Casey is taking over behind the bench. I hope that Mikes health did not drive this decision.

Three points:
  • This is one of the most graceful, thoughtful coaching transitions I've ever heard of.
  • At least for the coming year, Cornell men's hockey will resemble Cornell men's lacrosse in that two close friends and fellow alumni will be co-coaching the team.
  • Mike's health must have played at least some small part. There comes a time in one's life when wondering "what's ahead" becomes wondering "what's ahead and how much time is left."

During the Zoom call yesterday with alumni and friends, Mike was so choked up that Nicki Moore had to speak for him in the beginning. It was clearly a tough decision for him but -- as a retiree myself -- for a lot of us, there comes a time when you know it is the right thing to do. And I agree 100% that the transition plan is outstanding. Casey is going to be great. This is his dream job.

Yeah, if you think about it, what % of Cornell alumni wouldn't like the final decade of their careers to end up with a job at Cornell? I realize this doesn't make sense for some professions, and family, friends, climate, and similar considerations may rule it out. But Cornell is excellent in so many ways that if one has to go home again, it's a great place to call home. (Particularly so for hockey.)

I’m upset that Cornell does not have a good OC candidate for Hopkins to steal.

This is an outrage.

Brian Box' team wins second straight PA state title (in their class) beating the same western PA team in a close game.

Box is not quite 17 1/2 - I wonder if he does a PG year or just matriculates in Sept. 2025 ?

Still has another year and wants to play w his brother so I’d think he would just matriculate.

You can’t help but think this will help his game for next season, teaming up with some real talents, Matt Collison and also 2025 recruit Peyton Booth who has moved up to Junior A box.
Booth was on the team last year - had nearly 70 points. The team has AJ Nic on the team too.

An article mainly about coach Buczek, confirms that both Kirst & Long will be back for 2025. :D
