It’s a mixture of factors, not just UNC being a good school. Vergano & Student had a great friendship at VT, so that must likely helped Vergano want to go to UNC. UNC is losing great players on the draw, so Gresham can start on the draw. Humphrey was in her prime in her senior year and now gets to play with her sisters at a school she enjoys. Ripper can develop better at UNC than the colleges in England. Ford didn’t get significant time at Brown, so it’s not like she’s a fantastic player wasting her time at UNC. She will improve and could play alittle but still play. And if Claudia Kelly were to commit, UNC’s defense struggled and she would get to play with her sister.Relax77 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 8:42 pmFor the life of me I don’t know why girls would want to commit and play, well most likely never play, for a top 10 team in this era of transfer portal.uncfan1013 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 7:36 pm Levy saw everyone doubting UNC next season and took action. The #1 recruiting class right now and probably the #1 transfer class right now
Confirmed transfers:
Sarah Gresham (VT leading DC)
Alice Ripper (from England)
Nicole Humphrey (was at her peak when left UNC, now joins back for a 6th year)
Close to confirmed:
Julia Ford (transfer from Brown)
Olivia Vergano (another good attacker & DC specialist from VT
Not confirmed but could happen:
Claudia Kelly (sister of Paige Kelly, has one year of eligibility)
Also 4 of the confirmed/semi-confirmed transfers are graduates and with UNC getting lots of midfielders with the 2025 class, it’s no surprise Levy would get experienced midfielders that would have a year of eligibility.
