Here is something that I have observed over many years - watch the coaches at the tournaments. So many of them spend more time socializing with their friends than actually watching the games. At the Presidents Cup this past year, there was a group of lower-end D1 coaches who were in the middle of 4 fields with games going on all around them and they just talked to each other for an entire half while doing ZERO recruiting.
On the other hand, the top programs are dialed in looking for the best talent.

I'm curious your guess for me.Relax77 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2024 11:59 am Would love to see where the people posting the last few days come from. I bet I can guess right about 95% of the time whether their daughters play in a “hot bed” or not.
And for the posts about what coaches are looking for. Come on guys/girls. Put 200 players in a room with 100 coaches. Those hundred coaches are going to agree on about 20 of those kids. The rest are gonna have different opinions on size, athletic ability, iq, whether they can fix their deficiencies, etc etc.

Agreed. Its also about recruiting to a specific system.Relax77 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2024 11:59 am Would love to see where the people posting the last few days come from. I bet I can guess right about 95% of the time whether their daughters play in a “hot bed” or not.

For instance, when NW played Syracuse earlier this season, if you took the jerseys off, you could probably tell with 80% accuracy who played for which team.
Look at the top 10 programs during warm-ups. Notice how the goalies are almost always the same size. The best coaches have a scheme which they recruit to
For instance,
NW and Penn value speed over everything
Duke and Cuse value size the most
Florida like tall lean girls who can move
Michigan likes fast middies and attackers and taller defenders.
Notre Dame like techically proficient irish kids with rich parents.

Would completely disagree that Syracuse recruits with an emphasis on size unless you’re speaking of the draw taker but I can think of plenty of shorter draw specialists they have had over the years

Agree. Sam swart, Meghan Tyrell, Emma Tyrell, Emma ward when she was recruited, Megan carney. None sizeable. Frankly Emily hawryscheck is the only “tall” Cuse elite attacker over the last 7 years I can recall…..SU-LAXAHOLIC wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 11:16 am Would completely disagree that Syracuse recruits with an emphasis on size unless you’re speaking of the draw taker but I can think of plenty of shorter draw specialists they have had over the years
Olivia Adamson fits the bill now….
Re: Recruiting
So, assuming that the settlement terms are agreed to by the judge - what will this Power 5 deal to pay athletes do to recruiting class size/roster size?
Re: Recruiting
From what I've heard this weekend, the impact for most schools will be minimal. Depending on the words some $$ may be transferred from scholarship $$ to NIL $$, but I don't think any coaches are expecting to have more $$.
Rumor is IWLCA will recommend a roster cap of 40, but give schools a few years to work down rosters so massive roster cuts aren't needed in 2025 or 2026.

This anecdote is laughable for so many reasons.Brownlax wrote: ↑Fri Jun 07, 2024 12:45 pm Here is something that I have observed over many years - watch the coaches at the tournaments. I agree though. If you sit around at recruiting tournaments and smoke and joke with your friends, your program is clearly a $hitshow.

Coach K, Jon Scheyer, Hubert Davis, Roy Williams, Bill Self, Tom Izzo, and John Calipari should have all resigned after this event!
There are a lot of reasons those programs are lower tier division one schools. Chewing the fat with their colleagues, while watching a high school game is not even in the top 100 of those reasons but I appreciate the effort though

I heard differently from a coach. I guess IWLCA recommended 35 with the thought that it could be 30-32 for the 25/26 school year with it being a hard cap that year.
Re: Recruiting
So most programs will be cutting a lot of girls I guess then, since most programs have far more than 30-32 and haven’t been preparing to cut down their rosters that quickly.laxfan9999 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 4:40 pmLaxDadMax wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 4:06 pmFrom what I've heard this weekend, the impact for most schools will be minimal. What teams have rosters of 40+?

Would this apply to just Power 5 schools or all schools?
Re: Recruiting
Going back to the Covid days 32 on the sideline or allowed to travel Rest stayed behind Personally I think 32 is plenty I would never advise going to a teamLaxfan212 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 5:41 pmSo most programs will be cutting a lot of girls I guess then, since most programs have far more than 30-32 and haven’t been preparing to cut down their rosters that quickly.laxfan9999 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 4:40 pmLaxDadMax wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 4:06 pmFrom what I've heard this weekend, the impact for most schools will be minimal. With more than 40 tbh

Re: Recruiting
Lots of them. I think Mercer has mid-50s and USF will be close to 50 next year.. Now some should reduce on their own with Covid eligibility mostly done with.
The only schools close to low 30s are Ivys who only get 8 spots per year and some patriot league schools who are also limited by admisions for their numbers

I think the impact for the big schools will be similar to football where a school like MD may only bring in 4-5 freshman per year and fill the rest of the roster from the portal
Re: Recruiting
I don't think USF pushes 50 until the 25s come in. With a few transferring out/in, probably only around 40 the first year (but could be close to/over 50 the following year as you said).LaxDadMax wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 12:38 pmLots of them. Re: Recruiting
I heard the coaches were asking for 35 and expecting it to be a little lower but that it would be required for 25-26 school year.
