Yeah...that's not true, at all. Plenty of staffs will still be filling their 2025 class in the D1 level.LaxDadMax wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 5:42 pmFrom my experiences, its rare for a coach to directly go to a player unless there was a strong pre-existing relationship. Usually funneled through a coach or other intermediary.
Also, next weekend, 100% of D1 coaches will be watching 26s, not 25s.

I'm paying it as a now out of state parent but grew up in PA, painful.
It's an awesome place to go to school, highly regarded business program, alum network. They should do better with recruiting the in state talent, there is plenty. Within very close proximity to NJ, MD and Western/Central NY hot beds. Really no excuse why they aren't dominant, if you ask me.

I have my reasons why but I must remain quiet. There may be a fan of the team or coach who threatens to out my daughter.tothedraw wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 8:09 pm

Re: Recruiting
Sorry Spidey. Yes colleges start watching some of the 2025s that may have been interested in September but they lost out on them because the player committed before the coach’s lists shook out.
No I don’t think they approach the kids. From what I’ve heard, they send the parents and get the club coaches involved. It’s probably an urban legend.

Lol. WatchUO22 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2024 8:58 amI hear what you are saying. Denver, BC and Syracuse have very competitive aide packages. Florida is a strong academic school and out of state tuition (along with lax or edu aid) make is a nice option. Clemson may have nice facilities, but their academics are meh at best. BC, Syracuse, PSU, and Florida also have prominent alumni networks that are also extremely helpful for internships, jobs, etc.LiveLaxLove wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2024 12:12 pmWLax seems like the only sport where recruiting stops once a commitment has been made versus when the NLI is signed, and I don't think there's a coach out there that wants to be the first to break that trend -- I'm sure the entire community will go after their players at that point.Brownlax wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2024 10:24 amOn the men’s side of things - this is a pretty open practice. My daughter has been getting hits on her still active sports recruit page the last week. Two top 30 teams multiple times. She’s been committed since September. Is this normal? She hits Live Love Lax next weekend for the start of the final tournaments (thank god). I have heard comments in the past that it happens depending on the sliminess of the coach. Has this happened to anyone?
This is a regular occurrence in other sports as well.
If a coach can change their mind on players or applying for another job, then kids should have the same opportunity.
I'll bet this trend does break in the near future, especially knowing that some schools will be left behind in the unlimited scholarship/paying players phase of collegiate athletics due to financial abilities. Example: why would a Syracuse, BC, or Denver commit that's going to pay $40-60k a year not listen to a Florida, Clemson, or Penn State coach, where they could go to school for free AND make money?

Lmao. You think so? I don’t think you do. But then again I have no problem if you did. I mean what’s my crime. Saying I think player x tends to flop. Only two nutjobs (which is really one) had a ridiculous problem with that and wanted to have the coach call my daughter’s coach. . Have at it. They score enough to have that overlooked. There are some absolute nutjobs out there. Parents are the worst part about this sport. The sabotage actions that I've seen are horrible and plentiful. Some collegiate programs have massive, drama-filled divisions within the parent group. There's one program I know of where the coach treats all "non-starters" like the red-headed stepchildren of the team (i.e. at practice, in the locker room, during timeouts, not allowed to get treatment, etc) and the parents divide themselves into cliques the same way. It's comical!Relax77 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 10:50 pmLmao. You think so? I don’t think you do. But then again I have no problem if you did. I mean what’s my crime. If you're a parent of a recruit, I HIGHLY recommend you speak to the parents of both kids who start and kids who don't start in the program. You'll find out really quick how much that coach truly cares about your child as a player, and if it's all based on a self-serving aspect.

During the recruiting process we were able to get some sense of what coaches are legit and which ones gives lip service. But there are definitely some better hiding that than others. Re: Recruiting
Let me help and put a few lines up first. 25s will be hardest to pick (kinda like college bowl games) since many top players won't play and for teams with girls targeting D3, some uncommitted girls will play alot more than their stars
2025: YJ Spallina (-1.5) vs. Steps Blue
2025: AIM (+1) vs. Eagle Stix
2026: Cap Blue (-2.5) vs. Skywalkers Blue
2026: YJ Manning (pk) vs. Prime time
2027: YJ Stadler (-10.5) vs. MD United
2027: Hero's Green (-2) vs. Eagle Stix

With 2 kids playing in college, my experience is that worst parents are those of kids from the most well-known club programs (YJ, Cap, M&D, TG). They are the ones who can't believe that little Jenny isn't the star that they thought she was.watcherinthewoods wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 1:16 pm

And even worse, there are kids from California, Texas, Illinois, and Minnesota who didn't play on top 20 clubs or top 20 private school high school programs, who are actually MUCH better after a year of training at the highest level.

I think it’s a mix Max. I sit away from the parents just like I did in HS and Club. Don’t want to hear these parents. And it is 100% worse in college than club. I'd say, now that colleges won't be limited in scholarship numbers, if a coach is throwing you off, post-commitment, and you feel like there's been a mistake, don't be afraid to switch. However, I will also say that many coaches don't feel comfortable with initiating, so, you or your club coach may want to begin that discussion.
Re: Recruiting
Across my 2 daughters, one environment was much better than club and another slightly worse. Biggest difference in my experience is that a top club will remove a problem parent, but a college team less likely to do so.Relax77 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 2:20 pmI think it’s a mix Max.
