Re: 2024 New York State Tournaments
Class A - There's really not much going on in Class A upstate. Sections 3 and 5 are notably down. Shen has one of their best teams ever but that's not saying too much. Farmingdale doesn't look like a world beater either but I think they take it because upstate Class A is just weak this year.
Class B - South Side looks to be the favorite after a very impressive season. Victor is down a bit from recent years, West Genny has their best team in awhile but it's not like the old days.
Class C - Jamesville-Dewitt has their best team in maybe a decade and if they meet up with BBP in the final it should be an epic matchup. Either could win it but Iet's go with JD.
Class D - Looks to be a three horse race between Marcellus, CSH and Pleasantville. Marcellus has had a great season with some huge wins but don't underestimate the great CSH program that played a tougher schedule that included a number of close losses against some great competition. Let's go with Marcellus.
None of these picks are made with great confidence and I wouldn't be surprised to see a Long Island sweep.

Re: 2024 New York State Tournaments
Corning has a long history of success but this is not your father's Corning team. This season, they got smoked by Cdga, smoked by McQ, and smoked by OP. Good chance they get smoked by L'pool. I'll say 14-5 Warriors.
OP has seen this movie before. Big dog in Sect 6 only to get bounced by Sect 5. McQ does the honors this year 13-7.
Shen already has one win over Mamaroneck this year, predicting they get a second in a closer one, 9-6.
Farmingdale is battle tested, MW not so much. 10, maybe 15 goal difference.
Playing at home, I think Vestal is gonna give West Genny a bit of a game. Maybe for a half. But SOS strongly favors WG, for a 14-8 win.
Victor hardly breaks a sweat. Run the clock, 18-4.
Nisky and Yorktown may be the game of the day. Usually a lot of O for Nisky, and I don't think the Huskers slow them down, 12-9.
South Side hardly breaks a sweat. Run the clock, 18-4.
JD, BBP, and Rye all outclass their opponents. Everybody plays.
HFL is having a nice season with some quality wins over some bigger schools in Sect 5. They'll win while being respectful 16-3.
Aquinas got over the hump vs Penn Yan and carried that mojo over Akron. Much easier game trow beating Chenango by 10-12 goals.
Schuylerville Horses have a nice 16-2 record. Pleasantville will look like the great Secretariat trow and get a convincing double digit win.
Marcellus & CSH each light it up. Vegas not taking action here.

Re: 2024 New York State Tournaments
Absolute waste of time and the worst part is that it bumps LIC's to the Wednesday after MDW when less people can attend the games. That's the most negative consequence of this "additional round" IMO.flyerfan17 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2024 3:08 pmI"m guessing it will continue now for a few years but what a waste of time for LI teams

Re: 2024 New York State Tournaments
Gotta be real disappointed if you're Shen. This year ya beat Genny, ya beat Nisky, ya already beat Mamaroneck, ya beat Shaker, and today ya lay an egg. Credit to the Tigers for a stout defensive effort.

Re: 2024 New York State Tournaments
Wow!
I forgot the cardinal rule of predictions...Section 2 teams will underperform in the state tournament against downstate & LI teams.
Liverpool 6-3 @ H
AQ beating up on Chenango 11-3 near H.
