Re: Maryland 2024
Congratulations to the Terps on an amazing season and underdog run to Memorial Day. Great team play and great coaching down the stretch. No shame in losing to a dominant Notre Dame squad.

Re: Maryland 2024
I know they’re never going to give it to a FOGO from the losing team, but you’ll never convince me that Wierman wasn’t the tournament MOP. Did Baptiste or TD ever have a tournament like Luke just had where they dominated four straight opponents?10stone5 wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 8:24 am Not sure if this was posted already,

I also don’t get how 4 goals and 2 assists combined for the quarters and semis gets someone on the all-tournament team, but I guess when your name is Shellenberger that’s all you need.
Re: Maryland 2024
Wierman was impressive, but when you lose by 10, not sure how important a FOGO is --in the whole scheme of things.NYterp09 wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 8:35 amI know they’re never going to give it to a FOGO from the losing team, but you’ll never convince me that Wierman wasn’t the tournament MOP. Tell me what player was more important to his teams tournament performance, because it wasn’t CK. ND would have still won without him.FMUBart wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 8:38 amWierman was impressive, but when you lose by 10, not sure how important a FOGO is --in the whole scheme of things.NYterp09 wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 8:35 amI know they’re never going to give it to a FOGO from the losing team, but you’ll never convince me that Wierman wasn’t the tournament MOP. Again, lost by 10gs...

I haven't seen anything like it.NYterp09 wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 8:35 amI know they’re never going to give it to a FOGO from the losing team, but you’ll never convince me that Wierman wasn’t the tournament MOP. Sorry Mr. Wierman, you're right, FOGO was the MOP.

Re: Maryland 2024
I assume the Terps end up #2 in the final rankings, which they totally earned but is still a miracle considering the road taken.
Their goals for/against for the season ended at 186-177 and they had 34 more turnovers than the opponents. The only superior stats they had were face-offs at 62% and penalties (only 22 for the whole season is amazing).
Those should be the stats of a bottom-half conference team, not a national championship finalist. Amazing, amazing finish to the season with one of the hardest paths to the finals possible (I'm basing that on the talent of Princeton, Duke and UVA not on seeding). They went from one of the worst Terps seasons in the last 20+ years to one of the best. Those dudes should be proud.

Re: Maryland 2024
Yes, deserving # 2 despite final
Denver was one impressive team in tourney until 2h in ND game but can't see any other making claim as terps three wins in tourney were very impressive

But it does not matter how many face-offs you win if your teammates don't turn those wins into goals!
It's like running 50m in a 100m race then complaining because the other guys passed when it actually mattered!
Chris K. would have single-handedly outscored Maryland if the Irish did not go into a shell in the 4th quarter!....He also averaged over 5ppg in the postseason!
He was a worthy recipient!
