TV Broadcasts/Announcers/Production
Re: TV Broadcasts/Announcers/Production
Anish has sounded like someone's holding a gun to his head this whole tournament. Just zero energy, going through the motions. Feels like he doesn't want to be there
Re: TV Broadcasts/Announcers/Production
He sounds like he’s calling the games from an airplane bathroom
Re: TV Broadcasts/Announcers/Production
It was the usual shill job. No idea why they are not discussing the game that is actually in progress.
Nobody cares what Rabil thinks but he and Joe Tsai run the sport nowadays so what ever they want they get. .
Re: TV Broadcasts/Announcers/Production
The alternative to the Rabil business would be more commercials or some Carc segment with Charlotte North. There are a lot bigger issues than Rabil/Tsai in the degradation of ESPN's broadcast, and it's mostly due to repeated budget cuts and a clearly bare thin production effort.

Rinse and Repeat: Quint with another “Play like a Kavanaugh Today”Brownlax wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 2:58 pmI’m a fan of the Kavanaughs. These guys pump "memes", whether their own or prompted by espn IDK. It's not out of the ordinary: "up close and personal", or the NBA for years being (in)famous for focusing on stars/personalities over the sport. It's kind of understandable if you define growing the game as appealing to 10-14 year old boys.

And of course they bring it around to mention the 1 sister.

Re: TV Broadcasts/Announcers/Production
I know this is a pipe dream but there needs to be an alternate broadcast team on ESPN+ for people who know what the heck they are looking at. Enough of the simpleton explanation of the most basic of concepts. I don't need to hear 7x a game about how Faison plays football, there are multiple Kavanaugh siblings.
It's time for lacrosse broadcasts (specifically this one) to start treating the audience with some respect.

Time for some more Notre Dame football highlights.

ESPN puts the icing on the cake - They let everyone prattles on for minutes on end and then cut off Carcaterra in the middle of a post-game interview with the Kavanaughs
Almost as hilarious as all the lunch pail references to LI - like all those Chaminade players are from working class families

Re: TV Broadcasts/Announcers/Production
Anish gets to spend the next 8 months thinking about his woeful Panthers. They have a game against Taylor Swift's boyfriend and a game in Germany which means the number of awful dad joke texts he gets from quint should be pretty high.

Carc gets to deal with the angst of what will probably be a make or break offseason and season for his beloved Gait/Spallina era of cuse lacrosse.

It would be nice if
1. The announcers quit the hyperbole
2. Quite focusing on the Moms celebrating in the stands
3. Take time to educate the audience about what is happening on the field - 10 man ride , clearing at midfield strategy, type of offense - why dodging from wings is advantageous or why some teams attack from behind and others merely use behind x as a means to reverse or exchange matchups up top.

Sadly it continues in the PLL coverage - “he was born to shoot the rock”. Carc commenting on a 2pt goal by Chanechuck.

I miss Eamon McAnaney doing college lacrosse broadcasts. He was terrific. Still remember his call of the DU v ND semi final in 2015…

He made one of the great sports calls in that ND Albany exchange a few goals earlier, up and down, shots off the post - UAlbany turned it into a score.Gorilla Fan wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 11:26 pm Eamon McAnaney's Best College Lacrosse Play by Play Calls.
