Between the rain delay and Maryland laying an egg, this may be the worst D1 Men's Final of my lifetime. And it's not even over yet...

Hmm, Pat Kav with 5 points so far against the USILA player of the year in Enners Award winner Zappitello (5 assists -- very unselfish performance), Entenmann with 9 saves (close to 70%). Not sure which way the Tewey will go but I am thinking Entenmann if he gets a couple more saves, even though for the most part he hasn't been all that tested (ND team defense has been very effective).
Nothing against Entenmann who is a great player and has had a very good year but in some ways it would be a shame if he were the first keeper ever to win the Tewey. A very good keeper yes but certainly not someone who will be in the discussion of best college keeper ever nor was this some sort of historic season with 65% save percentage. He was under 50% in a number of games. That’s not to say he didn’t play well even in those games but there are better keepers who have had far better years who didnt win. A win this year would really speak to the lack of standout alternative.

He’s a competitor. There’s a difference.

Speak to NCAA Refs - they definitely have a different opinion.
36 years at Notre Dame and a handful of years at UVA. Majority of the refs were in grade school when Corrigan started coaching D1. He knows the game as well as anyone. He may bark a lot, but the vast majority of the time, he has a point!

26% save percentage right now.

If you are the 2nd string goalie - you can’t be too happy right now.

I thought the Terps had a legit backup? Rueppel?

I mean, if McNaney is up to 26%, he’s come on strong on the second half because I swear he had one save in the first.

Pulling the starter worked so well for Virginia ...

I think I recall they might be redshirting Brian Ruppel this year?

Ruppel is redshirting yes

Maybe woulda been worth putting the backup in just for regression but it wouldn’t have made a difference. ND played great, when they play great, they win

Is there such a thing as a happy second string goalie?

In the game Lars pulled his starter, the backup basically won the game for the Hoos. It’s the second game you’re thinking about.

I just won a bet. The commentary has now moved on to how awesome the Ivy League will be next year.

That’s a deceptive end of game statistic.

Oh, absolutely, just meant that playing another goalie in th second half wouldn’t have matter as Macnaney was actually almost 70% in the second half. Time to make a move was in the first half. Wouldn’t have mattered though, ND a VASTLY better team than Maryland.

I agree. ND was firing on all cylinders. And the Maryland goalie wasn't responsible for all those first half turnovers.

The Fighting Irish showed up big time and deserved the win after a tremendous season. Congrats to Coaches Corrigan, Wellner, and Wojcik, and to all the Notre Dame players and fans.

I don’t know Maryland that great, but I think Tillman needed to pull McNaney in the first quarter. He was seeing nothing.

Every young lacrosse player (and some older ones) ought to watch Notre Dame in this game. Played lacrosse the way lacrosse should be played. I think the Kavanaughs are actually underrated. Their contribution to this Fighting Irish team goes so far beyond the points they tally on the stat sheet.

Congratulations to Coach Corrigan and the Fighting Irish.

Being an X attackman for ND this year had to be the best job ever. So many weapons to throw to and the offensive scheme made it so easy for guys to get open looks.

Pat Kav didn’t beat Ajax once but still had 6 assists off of feeding wide open guys for easy looks.

Side note… If Pat is a 1st team AA and a tewaarton front runner, what does that make Chris…? He looked like the best offensive player out there today. Can’t believe he was only listed as a HM.
