Your Most Memorable National Title Game Ever?
Re: Your Most Memorable National Title Game Ever?
1989 at College Park. JHU v. Syracuse. 1 v. 2. Gary v. Petro. Quint v. Matt Palumb. Petro with the CTO on Gary with seconds remaining. JHU saved at the buzzer. 13-12 SU.

1999. Connor Gill scores with minutes left to seal victory against Cuse for first natty since ‘72. A wonderful memory to revisit after a tough loss this weekend.

1992... Soldier Field. Temperature close to 90 on Sunday crashing to 50 overnight. Unprepared with only shorts, Ts, flip flops
Princeton's first NC after upsetting defending champ UNC in semis w/ Cuse beating Hopkins. Tierney's team then stuns lax world taking down a loaded SU team in OT on Monday.

‘03 in the mud
Whatever year Brad Dumont missed that BTB for Princeton. 02? 01?
Late 80s Cuse Hop
2010 Duke ND Soccer game (goals weren’t allowed pre shot clock)
07 Duke delayed the start of the game so they could dramatically come out on to the field from the locker room while that dumb U2 song played. It was them against the world after Nifong. Jesse Schwartzmann said it ain’t your time yet.

Franklin Field, right? And in the semi-final, despite the heat, the Jays wore black instead of Columbia Blue.tech37 wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 7:49 am 1992... Soldier Field. Temperature close to 90 on Sunday crashing to 50 overnight. Unprepared with only shorts, Ts, flip flops

And in '07, Quint kept repeating that they were the team on a redemption tour. Then, in '08, Quint said the super-seniors were the team of destiny. Some homer he turned out to be.LaxPundit07 wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 7:49 am ‘03 in the mud

Haha!...yes thanks 44, game was NOT in Chicago! I remember that color choice for HOP. Of course Princeton was just fine in all black on chilly, damp, rain-soaked Memorial Day.44WeWantMore wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 9:16 amFranklin Field, right? I was in attendance with my son, who then went on to play at Navy……what a fun day. And oddly, happened to sat next to neighbors and a school teacher of the Looneys.
A fraudulent intent, however carefully concealed at the outset, will generally, in the end, betray itself.

1977. Cornell led 10-1 over JHU at the half and 16-3 in the 4th q when the subs came in. Final score 16-8. Cornell came in undefeated and JHU had one loss, a one goal loss to Cornell.
Re: Your Most Memorable National Title Game Ever?
Best part of that one (played at UVa) was the PA announcement near the end that the Cornell Club of Virgina was hosting a free after-party, all Cornell fans invited!laxfan1313 wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 1:01 pm 1977. Re: Your Most Memorable National Title Game Ever?
My memoranle moment from that game. Hoos calls a time out. Maybe score was 8-0. Eamon runs by the Hookins team and yells “ you guy suck” one way to his benchCU77 wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 2:50 pmBest part of that one (played at UVa) was the PA announcement near the end that the Cornell Club of Virgina was hosting a free after-party, all Cornell fans invited!laxfan1313 wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 1:01 pm 1977. 2016 UNC v Maryland. Utter classic of a game, just wish the outcome wasn’t a UNC win.
Re: Your Most Memorable National Title Game Ever?
On that 1977 title game,
there was a classic quote from Mike O’Neill,
something along the lines of, Is this game over yet,
or similar.

The 1983 final,
a boatrace of a final - all manner of talent, HoFers up and down the field - just a wild wild affair.

Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

Re: Your Most Memorable National Title Game Ever?
Most memorable to me was probably 2016 Maryland vs. UNC. It was more exciting than even the legendary 2021 UVA/Maryland game despite being pre-shot clock.
Others from the past 20 years that standout: the aforementioned 2021 title, 2009 Cuse/Cornell, 2010 Duke/ND, 2007 Duke/Hopkins.
