*top recruit meaning "top" according to the IL Women lists, which, as well all know, ranked Izzy Scane as #27 in her class and didn't even give Madison Taylor a ranking in the top 50 for her class
Even if all of their new recruits don't work out ( which I seriously doubt, UNC still has as way more returning talent.

We are discussing which team will be better next year. Here's the key question- if you were a coach and could pick one of the two teams to coach , which would you pick ?

Sure, but let's not act like the people coaching the team doesn't matter.

It does matter. That's why I brought it up here and on another thread regarding UNC. And so does chemistry and managing personalities. And with three sisters and the coach's daughter all on the team and playing offense , that's a critical issue for their offensive coaching staff especially since they are young ( 28 and 23 I think).

I think the 3 sisters could be a problem but not fully. Chloe is gonna be a star on offense, Nicole is a great midfielder who has kids of experience and Ashley is insane on the feeding. I think it could be different knowing the sisters will have 2 graduates and a sophomore which shows that two of the girls have loads of experience. Jenny is a great coach and won’t have a problem with her daughter, she is very talented but I think Jenny will still make her work for that starting lineup

My top 5:
1. (Unanimous) BC
2. UNC: lots of great offense just needs a strong defense and getting BWW helps a lot.
3. NW: Madison Taylor will have a great year with an offense built around her and good Ivy transfers.
4. Yale: Returns a ton of talent that will develop even more
5. Michigan/UVA: Both teams could take this spot, I would pick Michigan being honest.

Cuse and ND will have a rebuilding year and then will be scary in the 25-26’ year

I apologize in advance to all the Cuse fans on here - but I have never perceived Cuse as scary. IMO, sloppy & lazy fundamentals have been their downfall for years. It bothers me so much to see a program get talent like that and do what they do on the field. To me it seems like they’re their own worst enemy.

I think in the coming years they will build and become better & better. They have 8 5-stars combined in the 2024 and 2025 classes. I think Cuse is still improving with Treanor but will be scary in years to come

This has nothing to do with the caliber of recruits they’re bringing in (which is its own flawed system). You do not need talent to execute sound fundamentals. It has to do with the coaching staff emphasizing them as an area of importance

But also have they not have success in the Treanor era.

2022: Quarterfinalist 15-6
2023: Semifinalist (went undefeated til last regular season game, ACC tournament semifinal)
2024: Semifinalist (lost to a strong BC team in semifinal, ACC to tournament finalist)

Is that successful for a school with a new coach?? 2 semifinals in 3 years. Top 5 seed in coach’s first 3 years, and this was the first year with Treanor’s recruits.

They’ve been a top 5 seed the past 3 years, which was Treanor’s first 3 years. Made the semifinals the past 2, as top 3 seeds. Went undefeated until playing a strong BC team in the regular season final. Made the ACC final this year and was the #1 seed. Is that not scary enough?? I mean this is the 1st year that Treanor’s recruits are coming in and already she has found sucesss.

No, it's really not. You're only looking at them on paper. Watch them play.

UNC's attack is going to be top notch next year. Having BWW back plus hopefully a couple transfers on defense and Zenk coming in at goalie will be good also

Who is talking about Treanor's success in her first few years? How did we get to this topic?

I'll repeat myself again - despite the talent that they recruit to their school, Cuse has never been "scary" or a genuine title contender to me. I feel this way because, from what I have seen, they blunder routine plays & skills at a much higher rate than other top 5 teams, and have for years! Have they been a top 5-8 team the past few years? Yes, but, to me, they have never been a real threat to actually winning the title.

Last year? this year? they’ve been a top 3 seed and have played like it aganist tough opponents except in that ACC championship. That’s a title contender

Did you watch their semi-final game this year??? Top 3 doesn't mean all that much when theres a significant gap from 2 to 3...

They have enough talent to win most of their games even with their silly mistakes, but when you get to the ACC and NCAA tournament, that's the margin of victory. They need to clean it up if they ever want to win a title.

I’m so excited about Zenk! I’ve seen a few highlights of hers and games. She looks very good and hopefully she can live up to her ranking

But you said they were never contenders or scary. What about at the end of the regular season this year or the end of the regular season last year?

I said I never perceived them as such. And yes, I'm including this year and last year, based on their play - not their ranking

There is a very big difference between having enough talent win most of their games in a season and being a genuine title contender. I don't know how much simpler I can put it.
