As someone who calls games, I know how hard it can be and try not to be too critical. With that said, count me as a founding member of the Joe B fan club.
I also like Joe B, but he is literally a professional pbp guy who has been doing it for years 70-80 times a year in the NHL. He's got a bit of a head start on everyone else.

Yes. Joe provides a blueprint for me…with my personal touch, and a high bar to aspire to. It’s what I enjoy, and his timing with Dixon and his other partners is superb and allows them to do actual color.Unknown Participant wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 2:00 pmCarnicelli?Lax904 wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 10:32 am If the color guys is going to rave over and over about the brilliant coaching adjustments, PLEASE tell us what they were! Re: TV Broadcasts/Announcers/Production
Kind of a crazy list (my opinion) since you jumble pbp/color.
Mine would be (from your list):
pbp:
Joe B
Jay ALter
Drew Carter
Anish
color:
Dixon
Quint/Boyle (I loved him when he started, his schtick is wearing off, repeats the same bromides, e.g., open for a reason, a bit too much).
Cotter (maybe, is he the guy that says "for all you young players out there ..." and then repeats the advice?)
Carc
Matt Ward (meh)
Starsia only does Richmond home games, pretty blah, bad pipes
Stawick a color gal that never played the game, I get enough of that in the NHL, altho good pipes (the hop faithful love her because she is a woman)
Jules is OK
Mike Corey dunno.
I also like Booker Coorigan for color in the Corrigan games.

Dave Cottle was really good when he sat in on a few Loyola webcasts on ESPN+ as the 3rd voice in the booth. They made it work smoothly.
Sounds like Bill Tierney is doing radio color for Denver games.

Listened to Tierney do color for the Denver-Cornell game. Let's just say it's a work in progress.
Re: TV Broadcasts/Announcers/Production
Ha...I like Tierney a lot in general. The game I listened to (Big Red game btw) the pbp dude was just awful. Perhaps if T has, at least a competent partner, he'll do well/better.

Id like to hear him call games like he did on the sidelines with the refs.
A fraudulent intent, however carefully concealed at the outset, will generally, in the end, betray itself.

Re: TV Broadcasts/Announcers/Production
The whole sport could use some new blood in the booth, someone entertaining who tells great stories & shows people the real behind the scenes of the sport, to let fans know what really goes on
Re: TV Broadcasts/Announcers/Production
10 minutes in and I have already turned off the volume.
Re: TV Broadcasts/Announcers/Production
Is the ESPN or a Notre Dame broadcast?
Re: TV Broadcasts/Announcers/Production
No, Anish, it's not the equator, it's the midfield line.
equator:
1
: the great circle of the celestial sphere whose plane is perpendicular to the axis of the earth
2
: a great circle of the earth or a celestial body that is everywhere equally distant from the two poles and divides the surface into the northern and southern hemispheres
3
: a circle or circular band dividing the surface of a body into two usually equal and symmetrical parts

I don’t get why they just keep praising entemann when kleban had 8 saves at 3 goals vs. but they wouldn’t stop talking about how good entemann’s save was.

Are you saying Sheehan Stanwick Burch didn't play lacrosse? She was an All American at Georgetown, Tewaaraton finalist, US National team member and is in the US Lacrosse HOF.Unknown Participant wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 9:09 pmKind of a crazy list (my opinion) since you jumble pbp/color.

The Hop faithful don’t really have a strong opinion of her one way or the other. Gotta love this casual misogyny though.
