Every college lacrosse Natty champion is one of the blue bloods b/c it is the only college sport where the playing field is not level, how can a program like a Nova expect to compete every season with only 10 scholarships & one of the smallest rosters in Div 1

Quit your complaining MagB.... Hobart (for the first time ever) had 3 athletic scholarships to for the '24 season. We'll have 6 for 's5, 9 for '26 and finally the full 12.6 for the '27 season. We've been playing with both hands tied behind our back since 1995....Magbride14 wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 2:32 pm Every college lacrosse Natty champion is one of the blue bloods b/c it is the only college sport where the playing field is not level, how can a program like a Nova expect to compete every season with only 10 scholarships & one of the smallest rosters in Div 1

But Hobart is a Div 3 school except for mens lax, Nova thinks they are a big time Div 1 athletic dept and they are not other then mens hoops
Re: Next Programs To Win National Titles For The First Time?
The way things are heading, the gap is only doing to get bigger. It appears revenue sharing is going to come to college athletics. How that is worked out, could really hurt some programs.Magbride14 wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 2:32 pm Every college lacrosse Natty champion is one of the blue bloods b/c it is the only college sport where the playing field is not level, how can a program like a Nova expect to compete every season with only 10 scholarships & one of the smallest rosters in Div 1

Right on. Especially at the small liberal arts colleges were other athletic programs are not taken as serious. Happened at my alma mater and things went downhill.coda wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 2:54 pmThe way things are heading, the gap is only doing to get bigger. Michigan, Rutgers, Penn State or Ohio State.
The Big Ten money is going to be pivotal. UMD probably benefits the most since it will syphon more to lax than the others with different priorities

Gotta shut that door. Youth learned as he used to talk about his hot wife a lot in other threads. So nobody with $13M to toss around is going to blow it on enhancing a sport that will only lead to questions from hot women at cocktail parties of "isn't that a city in Wisconsin?"

Yes but Bart was treated different than Hop in the split division they should’ve been allowed to offer collies since 95.Magbride14 wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 2:50 pm But Hobart is a Div 3 school except for mens lax, Nova thinks they are a big time Div 1 athletic dept and they are not other then mens hoops

Your expecting it to grow in linear fandom but demographics, economy and the vol of FB I actually think the money in all other sports is going to get drained like a survivor of Germany in World War Two as controller of the cal state education system. So it looked that way but I see a peak in a few years but then you didn’t realize you were in the log flume or bit bad wolf roller coastercoda wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 2:54 pmThe way things are heading, the gap is only doing to get bigger. that was why I said "how that is worked out". Nobody knows how that revenue sharing is going to look. I do have a feeling that it will not be 100% merit based. I cant imagine 90% going to men's football and basketball in this environment. I am expecting some form of socialism to be involved. How that looks I do not know. If it is straight merit based, it is bad for all lacrosse programs. If there is a portion of the revenue divided equally amongst all sports, that could be a big advantage for the Big 10 teams and ND (depending on how big that slice of the pie is)Farfromgeneva wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 4:40 pmYour expecting it to grow in linear fandom but demographics, economy and the vol of FB I actually think the money in all other sports is going to get drained like a survivor of Germany in World War Two as controller of the cal state education system. If a small school like Loyola could win, it's possible for anyone. They are not blue blood in my book.Magbride14 wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 2:32 pm Every college lacrosse Natty champion is one of the blue bloods b/c it is the only college sport where the playing field is not level, how can a program like a Nova expect to compete every season with only 10 scholarships & one of the smallest rosters in Div 1

I think the colleges have less control than ever now and they would be the ones advocating for broader distribution of resources not the other side so don’t see how that happenscoda wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 4:43 pmthat was why I said "how that is worked out". Biased but am going with Brown and the terrific new head coach former head coach at High Point. Money endowment and interest is there - NIL or the like. New indoor facility being built.

Brown is a solid choice. Penn State is an old favorite, although Tambroni has yet to win the big one. People have said Georgetown, Towson, Michigan and even Rutgers. We'll see.
Re: Next Programs To Win National Titles For The First Time?
Not sure why people are saying Brown over other more established programs like Harvard or Penn tbh. Brown is starting with a lot more unknowns and at the bottom until proven otherwise.

Definitey Hopkins... I mean, they haven't won a chip in what, 18 years? Pretty soon their entire roster will have been born after they raised a trophy, so does it count as a first time after 20 years?
Don't answer that - Hopkins won't ever win another chip again, that's pretty clear, so trick quesiton.

Ahh reading comprehension success again. "For the first time". For you though, not the first time, ironically.Hooz123 wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 11:41 pm Definitey Hopkins...
