Is Brown a better job?
Interested in hearing opinions on why Torpey left HP for Brown
Re: Interested in hearing opinions on why Torpey left HP for Brown
Recruiting a much smaller cohort.
Lacrosse is a high profile sport at HP
-is it at Brown?
Not sure there was much of a talent gap btw Brown and HP the last 10 years
Brown did have more success when Tiffany was there
Wonder if he thought he was maxed out at HP?
Delaware entering the A-10 doesn’t make getting to the NCAA tournament any easier at HP

And Brown's is an endowed chair. Don't ask me about the value. I was told there would be no math.

The rumor is that the Coach gets a $350K/year salary.bearlaxfan wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 1:58 pm And Brown's is an endowed chair. Don't ask me about the value. I was told there would be no math.

Brown has the potential to be a top 20 or better program every year. They have the academics, facilities, support of the school and Providence is a great place to go to college. Torpey has some very good players to work with right and I think the team will see instant results.

Look, I’m not a big fan of a conference in which two of their members made it clear that I was unworthy, but I would surmise that any Ivy coaching job would be better than any coaching job sort of the few who virtually every year vie for the NC.
By the way, the schools that rejected me were right. I barely graduated from the school that accepted me.

Two final fours should’ve won the title in 16. Longer history by a mile: Dom starsia and Lars Tiffany coached there before going to uva. Ivy more likely to get 2nd / 3rd team in tourney.Laxbuck wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 11:58 am Recruiting a much smaller cohort.

It’s really straightforward unless that maniac president quibien or whatever is paying him a stick. And he’s not .

And you had to bribe those cats at Chico State! Florida state I think it was an accident and a drunk employee passed out with the “graduated” stamp in forehead when your transcript happened to be on the top of the “burn and never look back file”molo wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 4:07 pm Look, I’m not a big fan of a conference in which two of their members made it clear that I was unworthy, but I would surmise that any Ivy coaching job would be better than any coaching job sort of the few who virtually every year vie for the NC.

"Paying him a stick.." It's so easy to recognize a Wall Street/finance guy!Farfromgeneva wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 4:12 pmTwo final fours should’ve won the title in 16. 1. More money
2. It's a program that's been to multiple Final Fours
3. He's been at High Point for 12 years and has two NCAA tourney appearances and 0 wins to show for it. Probably feels like he's hit a ceiling
4. Less of a recruiting lift getting kids to an Ivy
5. See #1
The one downside is prob job security. He could have stayed at High Point for awhile as long as the bottom didn't fall out there. But at Brown there will be pressure and expectations. Again though that's outweighed by #1

That logic means Danowski is chasing his 11th national championship this weekendFarfromgeneva wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 4:12 pmTwo final fours should’ve won the title in 16.Laxbuck wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 11:58 am Recruiting a much smaller cohort.

And even with that they almost won. If you recall the fateful face-off, Gural popped it out so strongly that a Maryland defenseman scooped the gb as it rolled past the restraining line

Looks like I'm wrong. Maybe it was the last shot in regulation that I'm thinking of.
Great team, but not "should have won the national championship" worthy if they "didn't even make the national championship game"

Healthy Molloy they beat UMd by 2 or 3, but Monday against UNC? UNC rested: first Sat game, basically a runaway win. Sat weather HOT. UNC way deeper, and a hot hot team. Could have been as good a game as the actual final, but Brown win? IDK. I would have said UNC -2.
Re: Interested in hearing opinions on why Torpey left HP for Brown
You’re right. UNC blew Loyola out in the first quarter. Final score made it seem closer than it was.

So healthy Ajax and Maryland wins 2023 national championship. Terps were also up 4 with 9 minutes left. Brown played a great game to come back from a big deficit, but saying they should have won the national championship is a laugher. They should have won the game they had to get to the national championship, but they didn't.bearlaxfan wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 5:06 pm Healthy Molloy they beat UMd by 2 or 3, but Monday against UNC?
