A well-deserved win for Manhasset. IMHO, the difference in time of possession was huge. And the patience of the MHS player on shot selection was terrific.

If I didn’t see it I wouldn’t have believed it. Terrific job by Cromwell.
Re: Long Island 2024
SS/RVC will likely beat my and Tommy Postel's alma mater today. If they do, they'll be a tough out. Their FO guy is good, and I watched the SS/RVC goalie make 13 saves against GC. They have a lot of guys that can score.JoeMauer89 wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 3:46 pmNEVER. I wouldn't want to face them on Friday night if I am South Side. Going to be a similar strategy/formula for that one.

Keith drew up an excellent plan...and the players remained disciplined and executed that plan superbly.fordmaddoxford wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 3:53 pm If I didn’t see it I wouldn’t have believed it. Terrific job by Cromwell.

Re: Long Island 2024
Manhasset lacrosse is like its own little pro team in a small town. Former players stay and have kids. Good lacrosse players not from Manhasset come to live and have kids. Some are coaching PAL teams. Some are playing for Set lacrosse teams. Every grade has at least one team. Training indoors 2 or 3 nights a week all winter. Taking private lessons broken down to D, O and goalie. Everyone has an opinion. Believe it or not plenty of them find fault with Cromwell and his staff. It's a tough town to coach in.LI13 wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 3:30 pmReally disappointing. Manhasset is such a great school it makes absolutely no sense to ship your kid off to boarding school rather than having him play with his friends and chase state titles at home. I will never understand that.fordmaddoxford wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 2:08 pm It's always nice to see young talent in the pipeline for teams one supports. So I was pleased to see an 8th grader named Bo Dillmeier get on the field for Manhasset this year; rare feat. Last time I remember seeing that was with John Balsamo (starting Sophomore [also a rare feat] attack man for Chaminade).
I was considerably less pleased to see that there is a Senior at Lawrenceville, headed for Brown, by the name of Kurt Dillmeier who just happens to hail from Manhasset. What are the chances young Bo is still wearing Orange and Blue next year? I'm guessing they're the same as John Blutarski's GPA.
All these fathers see who their sons competition for playing time will be in HS. Some play for Igloo but some play for Express where they are surrounded by Chaminade and St Anthony coaches. Some will go to Greenvale for 6-8 grade and then to Cham or prep or maybe even Friends Academy. Religion aside it is about who their competition might be and how they view the classes socially that their kids project to go through HS with, maybe looking to escape the possible extra curricular after hours stuff that they might project to be going on. One thing is for sure, there are a lot of good lacrosse players who live in Manhasset and lots of parents who care about it

Should be a great game. It's been kind of a strange season. Wantagh has been the best public school team on LI that I have seen. They really came on strong the second half of the season. Haven't seen any Suffolk teams though and they did lose to BPPKlaxman wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 5:54 pmBring it!!! Re: Long Island 2024
Thought Im was the difference. He made 2-3 big saves in the 3rd quarter.
Felt GC never got into rhythm in the 2nd half. They’d win the face off and struggle offensively. Credit Set’s defense.
Thought SS looked very disciplined vs. Carey. They played a lot of guys. They played like a bunch of confident seniors on offense and defense. I don’t know if you can hold them to 5.
Melkonian is a lot more dangerous at the X. He can get to the cage.
SS vs. Set will be first team to 8 goals wins.

To be fair to these parents they only want what’s best for their kids. Using recent history as a yardstick, if they let them go to Manhasset they might only wind up continuing their careers at someplace like Harvard, Duke, Georgetown, Virginia, Michigan, Cornell, Navy, Swarthmore, MIT, Amherst, Dartmouth, or Air Force.

Congratulations to the Babylon Panthers, 2024 Suffolk "D" champions! They beat Mattituck 9-3, and advance to play the Nassau winner. They led wire to wire, scoring the first 8 goals of the game. The Panthers needed 4 overtimes to beat the Tuckers during the regular season.
