Hearing a deal is almost at the finish line for the new HC. I think the Brown Bears will hit a home run with this one…could be the perfect guy to get them back on track and quickly. Would expect an announcement this week.

What is the word on Torpey’s involvement in the search at this stage?
I have a hard time seeing him leave High Point at this moment in time. Their family is engrained into the community there and his best friend there is battling a significant battle with cancer, HPU women’s coach Lyndsey Boswell.

Assuming he removed himself from consideration, JT must feel like Breschi is safe at UNC. Otherwise, why hitch your wagon to a sinking ship when your alma mater is open? Of course, a moot point if Brown told him he wasn’t in the running.

He was told by Brown that he was no longer in the running.LaxPundit07 wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 6:18 pmAssuming he removed himself from consideration, JT must feel like Breschi is safe at UNC. Re: Brown 2024
As I predicted. There is zero chance that a fraidy-cat Ivy Prez would sign off on it.
Not a dis on Brown, Cornell is at least as bad.

Props. And nodding. A shame based on what I have at least heard (admittedly maybe not the full picture but as others have said I doubt the air force or unc would have him on staff if he had anything to do with the allegations).
Re: Brown 2024
looks like Jon Torpey is the heir successor.....with the blessings of consultant- alums Starsia and Munro......seems like a winner.....Breschi extols him based on his 3 years as a captain at Ohio State........hope he can thrive at a location without the some 32 fountains that grace the High Point campus....seems he's at the stage of his career where he needs a challenge...............appears to be well-regarded within the coaching community........his teams always seemed to threaten Duke and Va. early in the season - and Brown needs to start earlier in coming seasons.....and needs a more robust fall season........should be able to come up with good scheduling based on his regard with fellow coaches......told the HP players love him - but that is pretty standard with most coaches.........the Brown players loved Daly and where did that get him ?..............expect an announcement this weekend or before ........... he has a challenge before him in Providence but is the consensus that he will meet it............

Here's the HPU assistant coaches' web pages, in case the deal works out and they come as well.

Will be interesting to see if they go with a current head coach or an assistant for a major program in DI.

Awesome choice, assuming it IS Torpey.

Bummed to see Torp leaving High Point, but Brown is getting one hell of a dude to lead their program.

There's a core of talent there for sure.
Just, they'll need to institute the Power Sweep.

Solid hire. He should make them competitive.

Re: Brown 2024
Now to keep an eye on the transfer portal thread. Minimal action since Daly's ouster, just '24 seniors with covid eligibility left. Might be some movement, IDK.
