The Wildcats, participants in the Big East Lacrosse Tournament every year since it started, were closer than ever before in 2024 to winning that tournament for the first time and being an AQ for the postseason. Might the sting of the OT loss to the Hoyas make them work even harder in the offseason and result in them finally getting the above done in 2025?

Now is the time for coach Corrado to sit down and explain to Father Peter & AD Mark Jackson that his mens lacrosse team is consistently in the top 25 each spring & they beat Denver only 2 weeks ago ( who is now playing in the final four) Mike needs scholarships 11 & 12 along with an increase in his roster size to finally compete for a final four appearance and possibly a Natty Championship

Villanova is about 30th in DI in lacrosse spending.
Its up to Alum and dollar supporters to determine whether that's enough or more is needed.

But, comparing Villanova to Syracuse, Duke - those two spend way more than anyone on lacrosse.

The best thing Villanova can do is eliminate their Football program. That is the biggest money suck with absolutely zero return. Nobody goes to the games and nobody cares except for maybe the parents of the players. Nova has a chance to become a top lacrosse program with a greater effort and $ from the administration. But as they stand now, they’re just another “also ran” team in search of their first NCAA victory. My $.02

Syracuse spends well over $4 million a year on lacrosse.

And with NIL - well, little wonder ACCs et al get all the top 10-15 year after year.

I see many posts telling the Villanova administration what they should allocate their money. When I was at Penn, Villanova was known for Bball and Track and Field. What happened to the Track teams?

Now us the time for coach Corrado to ask the admin at Nova for either 2 more scholarships or to expand the teams roster, being that Mikes team just upset Denver 3 weeks ago in the Big East semifinals ( and Denver just played in the final 4 this past w/e) Corrado has the program ranked in the top 20 pretty much every spring with only 10 scholarships and one of the smallest rosters in Div 1 lacrosse and Nova has had a mens varsity program longer then both Denver and the back to back national champions ND, time is now Mark Jackson and father Peter

Totally! If they do all that, and maybe more, they could become one of the next programs to win the national title for the first time. REALLY!!

I believe Nova’s Track and Field is still strong. Several Olympians over the years.

As I have said, I sure hope Nova finally wins the Big East Tournament before any of the following happen:

Providence or St. John's win their first

Marquette wins it again

FWIW, there is chatter among the knowledgeable that Syracuse's AD has made the decision to direct more funds towards revenue sports. That's going to come at the expense of programs like lacrosse.

Not Duke,

but Syracuse reported approx $4MM in men’s lacrosse expenses,

Duke is though over $3MM.

A little late, but I had an opportunity to watch the Villanova-Georgetown Big East Championship game at Villanova Stadium on May 4th. After Nova defeated Denver in the BE semi-final, I was disappointed to see the Hoyas take an 8-1 lead early in the second quarter. The Nova offense was anemic in the first, taking only four shots to Georgetown's 16. As a biased, emotionally attached observer, it did not seem possible Nova could close the gap.

Then one of the season's most underrated SSDM Lucas Kopecky took a pass from Sam Parkinson resulting from a Hoya turnover caused by Reid Colwell on a fast break. Five Georgetown defensemen converged on Kopecky, so conventional wisdom indicated he would feed the ball, but it was obvious he was going to the goal. Kopecky proceeded to basically steamroll 1,000 pounds worth of Hoyas and scored.

It as an inspiring example of one player completely altering the momentum of a game. The stadium erupted and Nova came alive on offense, defense and special teams, scoring nine unanswered goals to take a 10-8 lead at early in the fourth.

Kopecky, who not only got Nova back in stride, also took faceoffs because Nova FOGO Justin Coppola was seriously injured in the game against Brown (a second time by former Coach Daly's squad), and won a key faceoff in OT. Nova didn't get it done, but it was one heck of a game.

That was definitely a great comeback by the Wildcats! Hopefully, their hunger going into 2025 will be that much greater!

It was tough losing Coppola, but they lost to Denver in a close game in the regular season right after the Brown incident, then came back and beat Denver, which showed a lot of resolve. Credit to the players and coaches for staying focused.

Nova had several underclassmen on offense in 2024, all of whom are coming back, plus a solid defensive core and goalie.
